He might not have planned it that way, but the timing of Rep. Bart Stupak's (D-Mich.) retirement announcement will send it into the annals of tea party history. Local groups and the national Tea Party Express had battered Stupak all week, holding rallies and running an estimated $250,000 of TV ads against the congressman.

Simple Answer: Yes
Bart Stupak, Barney Frank, Justice Stevens...
What is that expression about Rats and sinking ships?
Next!
I think retirement was part of the deal all along, with Stupak knowing he would ultimately get killed at the polls and Obama promising him a cozy job somewhere in the Administration.
Head’em up! Move’em out!
Victory will be claimed when we take over The House in November.
Shucks! It would have been much for fun to defeat this scumbag at the polls, but at least he’s gone. More to follow!
I'll believe it when I see it, but I remember hearing Senator Coburn saying they wouldn't confirm any former Congressman who voted for ObamaSocializedCare.
The fight over this SCOTUS nomination should be long and drawn out affair, if the GOP plays this smart, thus running out the clock on the Obama Congressional majorities. Majorities which are likely to dissipate after the political tsunami that could and should engulf the d-RATs on November 2.
They’re droppin’ like flies!
Barney Frank retiring (per Laura Ingraham)
Justice Stevens
And now Stupak!

Is it legal to trade a congressional vote for a cushy job? This was the plan all along. The cure for this corruption is going to get ugly.
But The Politico tells us that Stupak really wanted to retire several elections ago. Seems he just hung around as a favor to Pelosi et al. So NATURALLY the ramifications of his sell-out of the American people have nothing whatever to do with his decision.
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Yeah, but there are a LOT of senior executive positions within the bureaucracy that DON”T require Seante confirmation.
When did Laura say that about Barney Frank ??
Not if the Senate stands strong. I say they filibuster evey appointment 'Zero' makes from now until he just thrown out of the White House!
Let’s encourage the other so-called “pro-life” Democrats who walked the plank with Stupak to follow his example again.
