Blame Rahm Emanuel for teams No. 1 fan dropping the ball during interview
What's happening to President Barack Obama, America's No. 1 White Sox fan, is just absolutely terrible.
OK, sure, the poor guy committed a grievous baseball sin. But now he's taking a beating, the kind Cubs ace Carlos Zambrano would give his own catcher, or maybe his manager.
It almost reminds me of the time CBS' Katie Couric sweetly asked Sarah Palin what she liked to read. Palin drew a blank and reporters never let her live it down.
But I say, let's leave the poor president alone. After all, he's a White Sox fan, isn't he?
Obama's troubles started Monday after he threw out the ceremonial first pitch at the Washington Nationals home opener.
He threw lefty and missed the plate, which wasn't surprising. What was surprising is what happened after he joined announcer Rob Dibble in the booth for some happy talk.
Dibble commented on Obama's hat a nicely faded black Sox cap which the president proudly wore on the mound reminding all of us once again of the heroic team from Chicago that has actually won a World Series in the past 100 years.
Dibble asked the fateful question, one so easy that Hawk Harrelson would have called it a "can of corn."
Dibble: "Who was one of your favorite White Sox players growing up?"
Obama: "You know uh I thought that you know the truth is, that a lot of the Cubs I liked too."
Ouch. The silence between the stammers was excruciating. America's No. 1 Sox fan couldn't name one Sox player.
Not former players like Hall of Famer Carlton Fisk or future Hall of Famer Frank Thomas or manager Ozzie Guillen. The least he could have...

Obama Strikes Out
Peter Wehner - 04.07.2010 - 4:09 PM
John Kass of the Chicago Tribune has a wickedly good column on Barack Obamas perfectly awful interview with Washington National announcer Rob Dibble.
For starters, when asked to name just one player he liked while growing up, Obama drew a blank. You know uh I thought that you know the truth is, that a lot of the Cubs I liked too.
Ouch, Kass writes. The silence between the stammers was excruciating. Americas No. 1 Sox fan couldnt name one Sox player.
It gets worse.
When I moved to Chicago, Obama told Dibble, I was living close to what was then Cominskey Park and went to a couple of games and just fell in love with it.
Heres the problem, though: Cominskey Park was actually Comiskey Park. This isnt the first time Mr. Obama has been tripped up on Cominskey Park or tried his blue collar v. wine sipping shtick. Its not only getting old; its getting embarrassing.
After this interview which seemed to last a lot longer than it actually did one better understands why Obama is so reliant on his teleprompter.
Do you ever get the feeling that Obama is making it all up as he goes along?
Hussein is a Miserable Failure ...
Yes and he’s bad at lying. For someone who was supposed to be “so intelligent” he’s not...That should have been our first clue when the MSM touted his intelligence...
And this was leagues better than the throw he made the other day.
I have always had that feeling about that jerk.
Here’s the wages of being a not very good phony. At least the Bent One could be slick.
Yes—every time I hear or see anything he says, I get the feeling that he’s making it up as he goes. This guy needs a keeper just to get through each day, I think—and that probably started way before some people ever called him president.
Oh, what the heck . . . for all the rest of the FReeper world . . . Ashland Avenue runs north-south.
And I AM a girl.
He's not only a wuss, but he's a really bad liar, and would have been far better off to say, "You know, I'm not really much of a baseball fan."
But I don't think he's ever made an honest statement in his life.
I refused to attend opening day this year for the first time(I’m a Nats season ticket holder, but my other partners opted for it in my stead). I didn’t ever want to disrespect an American president in person, so I decided to give him a wide berth at the ballpark on Monday.
Everyone I know who watched this debacle on TV came back to this presidential “interview” in the booth, which was easily the weakest, bungled and most diffuse that I’ve heard the Obamunist.
Not that it should surprise us. This much is certain to all of us Nationals fans: one day soon we will have a better baseball team and a better president.
Anyone agree with that?
(Everyone who watches any baseball knows this name).
Old “Cominskey” didn’t have the nosebleed upper deck, the Cell does, guy is a putz and liar.
Obama: “You know uh I thought that you know the truth is, that a lot of the Cubs I liked too.”
For a messiah this guy’s got some real holes in his game.
Exactly. I find it very interesting he felt compelled to lie about that.
I think he is pathological.
LOL, now that is funny.
