Glenn Beck: ‘Mitt Romney Could Be The Only Guy That Could Win’ In 2012
Mediate.com ^ | April 8th, 2010 | Frances Martel

Posted on 04/08/2010 2:32:54 PM PDT by iowamark

Glenn Beck and radio pals Pat Gray and Stu Burguiere rattled down the list of potential Republican nominees for President in 2012 this morning, and they had some bad news for the Tea Party movement: Sarah Palin probably won’t run, Ron Paul is still and long shot, and Mitt Romney, as of now, is the GOP’s best bet.

While Gray and Burguiere are harsh to most of the candidates, Beck spreads the love around. He tells his co-hosts that he likes Palin but doesn’t think she will run, Bobby Jindal but doesn’t think he has the charisma, and Congressman Paul but doesn’t think America is ready for him. Then, at the bottom of the pile, he finds Mitt Romney:

"I have to tell you that Mitt Romney could be the only guy that could win, and I don’t know if he could because I think that Americans are going to be I mean, this country is going to be in deep trouble by 2012, and the next term, if it’s not decided this term, the next term will decide our fate. Then I hope that Americans are ready for an adult and are ready for hard news."

It’s a strange, possibly sad conclusion from someone who had called Romney out for “flirting with socialism,” but ultimately Beck was trying to determine who could win, not who he thought should. If Beck was playing process of elimination, which he clearly was, it’s hard to refute his conclusion that Romney is the least likely candidate to crash and burn in a general election, if only for being a conservative from the most liberal state of America and having moderate successes like universal health care under his belt. Or– and this one is for you conspiracy theorists out there– maybe Beck is intentionally downplaying the Republican candidates’ ability to success so as to clear the brush and become the reluctant right-wing candidate by default. After all, he is the second-most popular human being in America. (Link to a Harris poll: Glenn Beck is the second most popular television personality in America… second only to Oprah Winfrey.)

When one is really honest then they will recognize that most of us were shocked when we found out that the Mormon religion was still practicing racism while the rest of us were listening to Bruce Springsteen and watching Saturday Night Live.

***

Huh?

Those who do their home work know truth from fiction and slander!

The gentile Cornelius could have said the same things you tried to imply ansel12, about the praciticed of the Christian Jews because they too would not baptized an gentile!

LDS Bible Dictionary speak of the similarities

A centurion at Caesarea, baptized by Peter (Acts 10). The significance of Cornelius’s baptism is that he was probably the first gentile to come into the Church not having previously become a proselyte to Judaism (see Proselytes).

Other gentiles had joined the Church, but they had been converted to Judaism before becoming Christians, which caused no great commotion among Jewish Christians who thought of Christianity as having some ties with Judaism.

Preceding the baptism of Cornelius, there were several spiritual manifestations:

the ministry of an angel to Cornelius;
a vision to Peter showing that the dietary restrictions of the law of Moses were to be discontinued;
the voice of the Spirit to Peter;
and a manifestation of the power of the Holy Ghost,
accompanied by the speaking in tongues.

All of this would make clear the divine approval and direction of what was about to take place.

The baptism of Cornelius and his family marked a new dimension in the work of the Church in N.T. times, since it opened the way for the gospel to be preached to the gentiles directly, without going by way of Judaism.

It is notable that this major event in the missionary activity of the Church was done through the ministry of Peter, the chief apostle, who held the keys of the kingdom of God at that time on the earth.

If someone is Catholic are they always hounded by every time they talk they because they are Catholic?

If I read a Catholic post on things I don’t hound him and I know many times he speaks from his experience in life but I think if one is taught principle that should be the foucs not to hang him because he is Catholic or Methodist or Presbyterian or even Jewish!

I am speaking to all an not one person

Oh my! A whole sermon to make excuses for the "leaders and members" of the church who were racist up until the convenient revelation in 1978.

I'm sorry for you resty, that you feel the need to make excuses for these "leaders", men who you refer to here...

"GA is also made up of imperfect people who are being edified as well as the rest of God children.

Those who have the mantle keys of that priesthood calling may not always be as atune to the spirit in all ways as man would gage of another man yet growth is taking place in the Lord’s eyes which we are not always privilege to witness."

That is about as convoluted an attempt to avoid facing the facts as anything I have yet seen coming from you mormon apologists on FR.

It's really too bad that it took 180 years for these GAs "imperfect people who are being edified as well as the rest of God children" to actually BECOME "edified".

This post of yours really puts you in the running for "Player of the Week."

Additionally, you stated:"You and I have a different reference when I say Church."

Sorry, I was born into the very same church that you have converted to. Just because you capitalize the "C" and I don't, doesn't make it a different legacy of Joseph Smith and Brigham Young.

Piss on Romney and all his lying deceitful sycophants who are trying to pass that lying, deceitful, flip-flopping, progressive, big-government loving, statist pile of buffalo dung as a conservative.

He needs to go away. We don’t need any more Rudy McRomneys.

What does that have to do with 1978 when a Bishop of the racist religion of Mormonism could teach racism and then go home and watch Saturday Night Live on his color television that night, while waiting for the sequel to Star Wars to come out?

It is notable that this major event in the missionary activity of the Church was done through the ministry of Peter, the chief apostle, who held the keys of the kingdom of God at that time on the earth.

Are THESE the keys you are speaking of?

In May of 1829 while translating the Book of Mormon, Joseph Smith came across a reference to baptism. He discussed the matter with his scribe, Oliver Cowdery, and the two earnestly supplicated the Lord regarding the matter. Oliver wrote: “Our souls were drawn out in mighty prayer, to know how we might obtain the blessings of baptism and of the Holy Spirit. … We diligently sought for … the authority of the holy priesthood, and the power to administer in the same. 6

In response to that “mighty prayer,” John the Baptist came, restoring the keys and powers of the Aaronic Priesthood, which our young men in this audience tonight have been given. A few weeks later Peter, James, and John returned to restore the keys and powers of the Melchizedek Priesthood, including the keys of the apostleship. Then when a temple had been built to which other heavenly messengers might come, there unfolded on April 3, 1836, a modern-day equivalent of that earlier Mount of Transfiguration, part of something President Hinckley once called the “Kirtland cascade” of revelation in which the Savior Himself, plus Moses, Elijah, and Elias, appeared in glory to the Prophet Joseph Smith and Oliver Cowdery and conferred keys and powers from their respective dispensations upon these men. That visit was then concluded with this thunderous declaration, “Therefore, the keys of this dispensation are committed into your hands.”

You think it is a sermon it is the nature man which is all of us including you!

It is never never land to think somehow prophets were prefect none were going back from the beginning of time it is a lie from Satan that whispered in one’s mind to conjure this kind of thinking that one who is called of the Lord is perfect and if they show human frailties burn them at the stake!.

Even Moses talks about how he felt so inadequate for the mission he was chosen for!

How gullible that so many think our Scriptures were never at the mercy of the enemies of God we are bless for what we do have but even those in days gone by argue over content of the scriptures because of all of the tampering!

That is a fact and can be found in their writing to each others who have written the various versions of the Bibles we have today how they wrestled among themselves.

Those kinds of callings and walks of the servants of the Lord are not easy for their will always be thousands of types like a greyfoxx always being contrary letting bias rules their thoughts

Resty, you can't explain away the fact that Joseph Smith and all the mormon "prophets" claim to receive revelations from God Himself. So, explain why it took until 1978 for one of the "prophets" to discover that racism wasn't commanded by God.

Either God wanted mormons to be racist and not allow black men to be ordained into the "priesthood" OR these "prophets" didn't actually have God's ear.

What say you? God is a racist? Or...mormon prophets aren't in on what God actually wants of His children.

Now, are you gonna come back and tell me that all those prophets had imperfect and broken hearing aids?

I found this line from an lds site interesting.

“The revelation caught noontime pedestrians in Salt Lake City by surprise.

The link to the site. http://lds.org/ldsnewsroom/eng/background-information/race-relations

The fact remains that blacks until 1978 were not full members of lds. So either JS was lying about their (blacks) place or its a lie today.

I am grateful that my God is the same yesterday today tomorrow.
