Glenn Beck: ‘Mitt Romney Could Be The Only Guy That Could Win’ In 2012
Mediate.com ^ | April 8th, 2010 | Frances Martel

Glenn Beck and radio pals Pat Gray and Stu Burguiere rattled down the list of potential Republican nominees for President in 2012 this morning, and they had some bad news for the Tea Party movement: Sarah Palin probably won’t run, Ron Paul is still and long shot, and Mitt Romney, as of now, is the GOP’s best bet.

While Gray and Burguiere are harsh to most of the candidates, Beck spreads the love around. He tells his co-hosts that he likes Palin but doesn’t think she will run, Bobby Jindal but doesn’t think he has the charisma, and Congressman Paul but doesn’t think America is ready for him. Then, at the bottom of the pile, he finds Mitt Romney:

"I have to tell you that Mitt Romney could be the only guy that could win, and I don’t know if he could because I think that Americans are going to be I mean, this country is going to be in deep trouble by 2012, and the next term, if it’s not decided this term, the next term will decide our fate. Then I hope that Americans are ready for an adult and are ready for hard news."

It’s a strange, possibly sad conclusion from someone who had called Romney out for “flirting with socialism,” but ultimately Beck was trying to determine who could win, not who he thought should. If Beck was playing process of elimination, which he clearly was, it’s hard to refute his conclusion that Romney is the least likely candidate to crash and burn in a general election, if only for being a conservative from the most liberal state of America and having moderate successes like universal health care under his belt. Or– and this one is for you conspiracy theorists out there– maybe Beck is intentionally downplaying the Republican candidates’ ability to success so as to clear the brush and become the reluctant right-wing candidate by default. After all, he is the second-most popular human being in America. (Link to a Harris poll: Glenn Beck is the second most popular television personality in America… second only to Oprah Winfrey.)

If any of these little screechers can find my "hate Mormon" posts on this thread or any other, it will be an amazing magical feat!

In an earlier reply, I asked your accuser to provide me with just one link on any thread at F.R. about anyone who hates mormons, so far, no evidence presented.

There may actually be someone here who hates mormons but he/she would be a rare bird indeed.

While mormon haters are rare or more likely non existent here, there are numerous posters who like to throw around the words "hate', "hater" and "bigot", it's their answer to facts presented to them from their own literature.

If Romney was given the nod last time, Obama would have never set foot in the White House and you would all get to see how wrong you are about him.

Heck, even if he was everything you claim, that still falls short of being as disastrous as Obama is.

No he wouldn't have. We know what kind of man he is, look at Mass they are going down in the toilet because of that health care he put through.

For the record, I WAS NOT the one who said it, E forgot the comma, and was talking TO me about who posted that comment about Fred’s wife.

That missing comma threw me at first until I realized, almost immediately, where you both stand.

What a fantasy, the guy has won one election in his 17 years of campaigning, he sucked so bad that he left that office with 34% approval and could not get reelected, he broke spending records in the 2008 primary against a couple of losers that didn’t have two nickels to rub together or enough staff to drive the almost empty bus, but you want to play, “If only the voters had not voted against him”.

I commented to a friend that I was glad to see that Beck didn’t support Romney because they were both Mormons.

I said a couple of weeks ago that he would eventually come out for Mitt, the LDS connection is VERY VERY strong, esp since Romney is from LDS ‘royalty’:

This is very strange. There's some weird disconntect going on here. Romney might be the only one who can win? Huh? That doesn't make sense. I don't know what Beck's motive is for saying this, but it's bewildering. It doesn't mesh with everything else he's been saying for the past two years.

grig (RomneyBOT du jour):
"If Romney was given the nod last time,
Obama would have never set foot in the White House
and you would all get to see how wrong you are about him.

Romney was given the opportunity to act like a MAN
and help Gov. Palin and McCain win.
But the Bastard Romney, fresh from fascism in Massachusetts
stabbed Gov. Palin and her children in the "heart".

Romney and his malicious Team threw the Election to Obama.

Those who would reward Romney, would also reward murderers and rapists.

He doesn’t necessarily like that Romney may be the only one who could win, but if that’s truly the way he sees the situation, then why all the ruckus over his saying so?

- - - - - - -
Because if Beck REALLY thinks that, he has gone off the wall.

There is NO way, Mitt will win. Too much baggage and Zero will have him for lunch.

Hallucinating Mitt "I walked with MLK" RomneyCARE
has as much chance of winning as ..... a dead skunk.

No wonder the MSM dream of chameleon Romney.

"Despite outspending his rivals by huge margins throughout the primaries,
(Mitt Romney, Carpetbagger UT,CA,MA,NH,Mexico) lost Iowa, South Carolina, Florida and California.
The only primaries he won were in Michigan, where Dad was governor; LDS states;
and a few states on Super Tuesday in which his California-obsessed rivals
couldn't spare the cash to advertise.
Only John Connolly in 1968 had a worse cash-to-delegates ratio.
And John McCain rightly did not like Romney's tactics during the primaries.
(W)hen (Romney's early leads) started slipping away, he resorted to unfair,
distorted, scorched-earth negative ads, betting that his opponents couldn't
afford to spend enough for the truth to catch up to his charges."

Duncan Hunter? What executive experience does he have?

As for me, no more legislators for President. 0bama was enough. Must have private sector executive experience. Even Romney has that.
