HADLEY, Mass. - Lawyers for three teenage girls accused of participating in the bullying of a 15-year-old girl who committed suicide entered not guilty pleas Thursday on their behalf to charges including civil rights violations and criminal harassment.
Ashley Longe, Sharon Chanon Velazquez and Flannery Mullins, all 16, did not appear in Franklin-Hampshire Juvenile Court for their arraignments.
A judge ordered them to have no contact with the family of Phoebe Prince, a South Hadley High School freshman who hanged herself in January after what prosecutors called an "unrelenting" three-month bullying campaign by six teenagers. Prosecutors say Prince was targeted after she briefly dated a popular boy.

Absolutely, and now they are getting elected to offices and in control of our future. Very scary.
Does anybody know if the victim’s family has any IRA members? I know there are quiet a few of them living in the Mass. area, and I was wondering if they would get some revenge on the cowards.
It was why it was possible for a single teacher, usually female, to handle and teach 35 students per class.
DISCIPLINE!
Yep, I’d say you are right on that!!! The dems and liberals in general do seem to have a bully mentality.
I went to a 2 ROOM school with ONE NUN teaching all 4 grades....and DISCIPLINE was the key!!
Who knows. But the fact that hte country is up in arms over this and hopping mad shows that jail may be the only safe place for them.
I retired from teaching 5 years ago, after 20+ years in the classroom. Over the course of my career, student behavior changed dramatically — because parents changed dramatically.
The teachers that you and I had were able to exercise control in the classroom through discipline, as you said, but that was possible only because our parents required good behavior from us, also. Many children today are raised with no sense of deference to any adults, including reachers and police.
“children today are raised with no sense of deference to any adults, including reachers and police.”
Everything is one big joke to them. Bullied kid dies, funny, teacher gets upset, funny, suspended, funny. This stuff never used to, in a million years, even be imagined as funny, much less actually become something that they or anyone else could consider funny.
Same thing today. A really good teacher will never smile before Christmas.
That is true.
Also, state legislatures outlawing butt whippings, and schools being fearful of lawsuits.
Further, there has been a big shift in the political leanings of too many teachers and administrators towards moonbat philosophies resulting in the dumbing down of education.
I had a former sis in law who was a first grade teacher. She came to dinner and was damn near high with joy because she had been taught at some teacher seminar to teach the kids that 1+1 doesn’t necessarily equal two. First grade! This was to teach the first graders to think, according to her. What absolute poppycock. I suggested that teaching 1+1 = 2 and other rote lessons at that age was more appropriate and had worked as a teaching method for 4,000 years.
I got the “You are such a Neanderthal” look for my troubles.
My dad was a career NCO in the army. Then he became a junior high school teacher. First rule was “Never embarrass your parents”. Anyone calling our parents and telling them we had misbehaved was an embarrassment. Discipline was swift, sure and unpleasantly painful.
That made me and my two older brothers cautious about acting stupidly, most of the time.
Plus the PARENTS are on the side of the KIDS instead of the teachers’ side!!
Yep, both my parents did that. If one parent disciplined the other one backed them up. I never got away with anything. I suppose that was a good thing but, at the time, dang it wasn’t fun...lol
These bullies, actually that is not what I want to call them. Frankly, these scumbags are terrorists and are no different from Osama bin Laden or Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold.
I know bullying has been around, but the entitlement culture and spoiling our kids is making it worse. Also, parents try to be friends with their children.
Do these thugs even realize that they are the most hated people in America and likely the world and they share that with Osama bin Laden, Charles Manson, or Jeffrey Dahmer?
I told the bully (with my meanest face on) that I've been watching her, knew where she lived and how she got home. And that if ever she bothered my girl again, this bully would regret it the rest of her life. She turned to jelly, and never bothered my daughter after that. That was about 20 years ago. You'd have to be more discrete nowadays.
Everything is one big joke to them.

You are so right. They have become desensitized by the garbage they see on TV and in movies. Many of them did not have much of a foundation in compassion to begin with, as their parents have not bothered to instill that in them.
So many parents have just handed their children off to be raised by strangers beginning at the age of 6 weeks. Very sad....

Correct, again. In addition, while the average teacher 30 years ago was generally well-educated as well as grounded in his particular discipline, today we have teachers qualifying by majoring in education. The education major, in most universities, is a joke; 90% of the coursework is a waste of time, and, education majors often come from the bottom 10% of their classes.
Plus the PARENTS are on the side of the KIDS instead of the teachers side!!

Don’t I know it! Mostly, I think, it’s because they don’t want to hear the rant from Jessica or Sean.
As a high school teacher, I witnessed so many parents being scolded by their offspring. It was shocking to me, especially since I was raised by parents who did not tolerate backtalk and raised my four sons with the same expectations.
we are lost...lost.
