Exactly... Thirteen is not THAT young when we look at things historically — and even when we look at teen pregnancy in our own country (it’s definitely not that uncommon for some 12 & 13 year olds in this country to be sexually active as sad as that is...). This was clearly a case of abuse - no doubt about it... I don’t even want to think about what she endured to end up like she did, frankly.

100 years, I’m pretty sure marriage was legal for 13 year old girls in every single state. I know some were as low as 11, still on the books well into the 20th century.
