Were part of the country, whether we agree with the government or not. If the country suffers the judgment of God we will be affected also. Bingo. When Pharaoh ordered that the first born of the Hebrews must die (trying to kill off the deliverer -- Moses) did God's response limit itself to just the government and the military or did everyone suffer? The government charts the official course for our nation. We are a Constitutional Republic and supposedly our government is an extension of our national will. We were foolish enough to put them in office and the God of the universe will punish us for our foolishness.

And how does God come down on US protectorates? Guam? St Thomas? Only minor Tsunamis for them?
Some of this biblical literalism is a bit daft.
