Glenn Beck Inc
Forbes Magazine ^ | 04.08.10 | Lacey Rose

Five and a half hours before showtime Glenn Beck still isn't quite sure how he'll provide tonight's entertainment, "The Future of History"--two hours of monologue (and answers to preselected questions) before a nearly sellout crowd of 1,000 or so people at the Nokia Theatre in New York City's Times Square. "But that's me--I'm the next-event guy," says Beck, flanked by two bodyguards as he walks the four blocks between the Fox News Channel studio, where he has pretaped the day's show, and the theater. He won't have to create tonight's performance from scratch, since he's left a long trail of words--millions of passionate, angry, weepy, moralizing, corny, offensive words--in his wake. "The body of work is pretty much the same," explains Beck, 46. "What I'm trying to do is get this message out about self-empowerment, entrepreneurial spirit and true Americanism--the way we were when we changed the world, when Edison was alone, failing his 2,000th time on the lightbulb."

At the theater he runs through images that will appear on one of three projectors behind him. There's David Sarnoff (the NBC founder), Philo Farnsworth (the early television pioneer) and someone Beck can't quite place but, he assures the handful of staffers dancing around him, will remember by the time the curtain goes up. "Does anyone know how many minutes of high-def TV equal one gigabyte?" Onstage Beck paces like a comic Hamlet, eyes bulging every time he figures out how to weave the props (stalks of corn, a chalkboard, a cockatoo he rented for $750 a night) he has ordered into the monologue.

GLENN BECK IS A FRAUD!

He was talking to the racist, Al Sharpton on his shows yesterday and it really made me sick to watch. Sharpton is a racist pig and race hustler. Do you all remember Tawana Brawely? How many lives did this racist pig destroy? And Glenn is talking to him on level ground. Sick.

Only moderately hostile/critical.

Its not hostile or critical at all, its a fair shake on what Beck really is, an entertainer attempting to make as much as possible as quick as possible while its possible to make it. Theres nothing wrong with that, its capitalistic, is what everyone should be doing if they have something that they can make money off.

Its what makes America a Great Nation.

That said, don't let Beck seriously form your opinions on anything, do your own research, think on the issue, then make your own informed decision.

He informs, enrages, and encourages.

And he’s found a way to make a bunch of bucks doing it.

God love him.

I dont think he is a fraud but I certainly did wonder what possible purpose did he think it would serve to have Sharpton on. There comes a time when one just realizes OK this is an enemy and dont waste time talking to them. That was the thought I had. They both admitted they disagree on everything, neither one is going to change nor do they want to. I was ticked because I miss Glenn’s show often then I get a chance to watch and that race hustler was on. I enjoy and agree with Beck in many areas but I do wonder where his mind was on the Rev Al thing.

...but he spoke to him on the level like he is some regular guy who doesn’t have any skeletons. America has many wounds that can never be healed. This racist scoundrel and his ilk should be sitting is prison with the other black racist Jesse Jackson, Mr. Manhattan is Jaime town. Do you remember that? Or how about when Jackson admitted that whey he was a youngster, working at a country club, he used to spit in “whities” food.

It appears O’Reilly has been mentoring Beck, not always to Beck’s benefit. I’m also wondering how Beck’s career will play out over the next few years. Will his follows grow tired of his delivery style?

yes I know and it was disgusting. Again I dont know why he wasted the time. I noticed Glenn was pretty quiet and subdued with Sharpton, at least the part I saw cause I couldnt look at Al's face another minute and turned the channel. Maybe he wanted to show a contrast and hoped Sharpton would spew his usual hate rhetoric. I certainly question why Glenn even bothered because I dont talk to my enemies but questioning does not make me distrust Beck's motives in the long run.

316...

It hit me with the 1st cup of Morning Joe, it was brilliant and here is why.

It was Glenn playing Gretzky and being 3 moves ahead of the Obamaton destruction machine.

They are after him big time, the White-house, Writers with unauthorized biography's and now stepped up boycotts.

This was his move towards bringing parts of their factions to listen and discuss common character behaviors at the core of American Excellence. a move perhaps to cause doubt amongst their ranks, who to do it better with with someone who is known to be a thorn in any-ones side (sadly most of the time for his benefit).

Will anyone even think out loud that maybe Rev. Al reached out to him? Maybe he is sick of the move towards Socialism as discussed here that some FR-ers are noting that the African American community in some quadrants they are even saying we didn't vote for this communist? Does this protend to a crack in what we think of as a monlitic voting block?

Again they cannot character assassinate him with such discussions. They still and slice and dice him over his delivery and banging on them for being communist/socialist/Marxist but they won't attack him on the substance, and now not on core value principles.

I didn’t change my tag line but it was refering to war clips when our military has to ask time and time again for permission to fire on the enemy. It got very frustrating to me to watch this always happening when our pilots have the enemy in their sites and then the rag heads scatter when they hear the aircraft.

Is giving race hustling LEFTIST thugs like Al Sharpton, television face time in front of a large audience a prudent thing for Glenn Beck to do ? Who will be the next drooling LEFTIST guest thug, Caligula Clinton in search of his legacy ? How about, Keith Olbermann ?
