While his obvious hatred of this country indicates a lack of allegiance, I think the fact that an announcement in the HI newspaper of his birth at the time he was born should indicate that he was born there. It isn't like his parents knew he would be president someday, so they have no real reason to lie about his birthplace, nor would the newspaper or hospital. I think digging up more about his political associations and beliefs would be time better spent at this point.

I think the fact that an announcement in the HI newspaper of his birth at the time he was born should indicate that he was born there.

Let me walk you through it.

1) Ok, Hawaii has a real problem in that it hands out COLBs like candy to citizens and foreigners alike. They don't care. Heck, even Sun Yet Sen had one.

2) We don't know for sure how the newspapers got the information. If he was born outside the US, typical white granny Dunham could have trotted herself down to the county courthouse and filed a delayed (HI uses a different word) BC and no one was the wiser. The announcement would have been generated at the proper time.

3) We don't know that the announcement was placed in '61 or was recently faked as was the COLB.

4) There is some concern that the happy couple never lived together, much less at the address in the paper.

5) Then there's the problem with both hospitals being named as the birthplace and now both are keeping their distance from it.

And the list goes on and on.

” I think the fact that an announcement in the HI newspaper of his birth at the time he was born should indicate that he was born there. It isn’t like his parents knew he would be president someday, so they have no real reason to lie about his birthplace, nor would the newspaper or hospital.”

The birth announcement is being treated by Bill O’Reilly and Beck and Coulter as the smoking gun.
Barry’s book Dreams is full of his grandparent’s despair about the daughter’s fuzzy and embarrassing relationship with BHO Sr.
50 years ago, having your unwed daughter ( who was just barely out of high school ) pregnant by an older man was a huge social taboo.
The father’s race and his ethnicity only added to the situation.
Don’t know if the grandparents were also aware that BHO Sr was already married.
The birth announcement -which now described the daughter as married
( although Barry wrote in Dreams that there was no real record of a wedding and he was always afraid to really investigate )-
was probably an effort by the grandparents to put a socially acceptable face on an extremely awkward situation.
I had a part time job in high school at our local newspaper-which was years after Barry’s birth and we routinely printed birth and wedding and death announcements that were phoned in.
We never asked for any kind of documentation and never thought to.
