Lol. I have been saying this for many years now. After all, it is just too much to risk our "financial security" - our jobs, our houses, our families, our beer, our sports, our flat screen TV's - to speak out loud enough to make our voices heard. Umm, the GOVERNMENT made slavery legal, genius. And state governments prevented people from freeing their slaves, even when they wanted to ) see the history of Virginia before the Civil war), until they decided not to. See, they controlled it from inception to demise.

And, child labor was not slavery. Children were free to leave those jobs if their parents agreed. Unless you think children are slaves to their parents, genius.

The lawmakers act like mobsters who run a protection racket with the Capitalists. If you are a business owner or a corporation, the lawmakers threaten to regulate them out of business unless they kick in money for political campaigns. Then politicians will use regulations to protect their friends at the expense of competitors.
