A Happy Birthday, and many more, to one of the greats. In times like these, we need more Merle (and some George Jones too).

I refuse to believe that Merle could do such a thing. I think it was Howard Dean, dressed up as Merle, that wrote those songs. ;-)

Haggard went the way of Steve Earle and the Dixie Chicks long ago. I like Haggard’s music but his politics of late smell like dead fish.

Lady J, I've come to the conclusion that some things are never going to be explained with any degree of satisifaction. It's just one of those mysteries. It just cannot be explained. Seemingly once 'normal' people are increasingly acting bizarre in both action and in words. Just today (I believe today) Sen. Tom Coburn defended Nancy Pelosi and said "she's a nice lady" and then turns around and attacks Fox news. It's just beyond comprehension. He defended one of the most evil people in Congress. Someone who wants to diminish us and this Nation and he turns around and calls her 'a nice lady'. (can you tell...I feel your frustration? lol because my reaction is the same as yours...wth??)
