Your proposal is interesting, but somewhat uninformed.
Maybe you live in Texas like I do and know a whole different class of illegals, but your assumption that they have assets is foreign to my rather extensive experience.
These are, for the most part, people who came here with nothing and live hand-to-mouth, working hard and long hours when they can find work just to feed their families. Many have left families in Mexico and send what they earn back to them.
They work for very little, live in cramped and often shoddy housing, and have the ability to negatively affect both the job market and housing values anywhere they congregate because they are poor. Contentedly poor.
In other words, in most cases there are no assets to seize, just bodies to transport.
You’ve pointed out one of the big stumbling blocks to immigration reform: many Americans simply don’t understand the facts.
I’m totally with you in wanting illegal immigration stopped, fully and quickly. But your idea of asset seizure is — no offense intended — uninformed and laughable.
Your Texas illegals are certainly NOT the same as those in Kalifornia and Nevada!
Around here most do not pick fruit or vegetables, or live in poverty.
They take good paying jobs in manufacturing, construction, retail, etc.
They own late model vehicles, and HOMES!
Since they get to pick what laws apply to them, if any, they actually have advantages that legal Americans do not.
The Unions prefer them over Americans, as the illegals will always support any Union edict and vote as they are told.
One of the issues clouding these discussions is the idea that the illegals are all hispanic Mexicans and South Americans.
Maybe true in Texas, but around here they are also Koreans, Russians, Chinese, Canadians, Irish, white South African, black South African, Japanese, Lebanese, Tongan, etc. Basically, every nation on earth has illegals here.
Most do not have to swim a river or jump a fence, just permanently overstay their visa.
The hispanics may be more easily recognized, in part due to making so little or no effort to assimilate, but many other invaders speak english just fine, and easily pass without ready detection.
The non-Mex. more easily amass wealth, and are just as deserving of it’s seizure, and their deportation.
They have committed the same invasion the Mex./So. Americans have, deport them ALL.
The only way to avoid giving credence to the inevitable “Racism” ploy is to not discriminate, all illegals get stripped of their assets and deported, no exceptions.
