MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) -- U.S. Congressman Steve Cohen is drawing national attention for remarks he made about the tea party movement in a recent radio interview.

The Commercial Appeal reports that the two-term Democrat said the tea party - "without hoods and robes" - has shown an angry, hardcore side of America that's against diversity.

He made the comments Thursday night on The Young Turks, an Internet and satellite radio talk show.

Cohen went on to say tea party members have shown hostility toward anybody who isn't "a clone of George Wallace's fan club," and that he has seen no Republican standing up to appeal for reason.

How about this sign:

“This crowd doesn’t do racism. We’ll leave that to the MSM”

We really have to stick it to them with this racism business. There’s only one side where racism is coming from and it’s not ours.

"Desperate attempt to be relevant."

I just read that he is up for election this year, and I think his opponent is a black guy, and he is in a district heavily populated by blacks. The only reason he won last time was, no black candidate ran against him.

So, this little charade, with comments like, "that the two-term Democrat said the tea party - "without hoods and robes" - has shown an angry, hardcore side of America that's against diversity." are designed to make good with the AA community.

Nothing to see here...let's move on.

U.S. Congressman Steve Cohen needs to be retired by the voters in congressional district PRONTO!

The problem is that this district was gerrymandered into a strong RAT (African-american) district and will stay RAT. His primary challenger is a "King" Willie Herrington, the long time mayor of Memphis who likely would be worse.

How does that help anything? It looks to me like you are making some appeal to a so-called “white supremacy.” Tell me if that is not your intention.

Not me, I’m voting for King Willie. At least you know what you have. He’s also older and will be junior. Cohen is a POS. Hitler probably used Jews like him.

That's what you take away from viewing a famous painting and a poster of the twelve men who have walked on the moon?
Interesting..

I am asking the question; particularly with the obvious “non diversity” of the white men in both pictures. What is your intended take away for us?

He’s right, actually. We prefer unity.

E pluribus unum, y’know?

I’m in Southaven and if I lived 5 miles to the north I would vote for King Willie. I don’t think he would be a rubber stamp for Pelosi like Cohen

Hold on a second...this guy whines about a lack of “diversity” in the Tea Party Movement. OK, fair enough. But did I read that he was refused his request to join the Congressional Black Caucus (which I guess was simply due to the fact that he is of the “wrong” race)?

stevie is just an obama butt kisser.

Charlotte Bergmann is his CONSERVATIVE opponent http://charlottebergmann.com/

The former mayor (crazy GOD anointed me) King Willie Herenton (70) is his race card playing opponent. Only blacks can represent blacks. Did such a good job of ruining the city schools as Super, they elected him mayor 4 times to ruin Memphis.

Never be dissuaded by the race racketeers, the race-baiters and the race-huckster, this is what the RATS do when free people oppose their stupidity and tyranny because this is pretty much all they have in their empty bag of sleazy tricks.

Rep. Steve Cohen says Tea Party movement shows America's hardcore side against diversity

You mean the destruction of our culture? The displacement & replacement of whites? Is that what you mean? You mean the 'diversity' exhibited by race specific groups like the Black or Hispanic Caucuses? Or maybe you mean like invasion supporting groups like LaRaza or MEChA?

What's not to like? Why would we be against any of that? I think the idea of genocide and nation destruction is wonderful!

History: George Wallace (D, Mississippi) fought integration and defied President Eisenhower (R) who sent the 101st into Selma to assure that the schools were integrated.
When my Dad retired from the Navy, my parents decided to move to Monterey, California (Mom's family) rather than Georgia (Dad's family). their reason was that this little girl would have had our family in a whole lot of trouble with the Georgia family.

I'm thinking the challenge is to show Americans with African Heritage that Conservative values are the values that will bring them and their community economic and political freedom, instead of being beholding to liberal overlords who are willing to sanction the death of their unborn children for convenience and political power.

If you don’t agree with Democrats, you are a radical. He’s a Democrat ... his point of view is not relevant.

Oh yeah, think the government is spending (and wasting) way too much tax-payer money? Well, you’re nothing but a miserable, nasty, racist, hater...and probably a terrorist too. See how tolerant of other’s opinions the Democrats are? (smirk)
