Rep. Jane Harman (D-CA), speaking on Meet the Press this morning, equated with terrorists the thousands of Americans who thronged the Capitol during the recent Tea Party protests against the Democrats' takeover of the health care system.
Harman was talking about the arrests this week of 'militia' members charged with domestic terrorism and how their alleged plans were to use improvised explosive devices as part of a plot to kill law enforcement officers.
Harman directly pivoted from that to invoking the Capitol Police officers who guard Capitol Hill, saying that they were the only thing protecting Congress from a similar fate during the health care takeover protests.
Harman chairs the House Homeland Security Subcommittee on Intelligence, Information Sharing and Terrorism Risk Assessment.
A transcript of Harman's remarks on Meet the Press should be available later for the exact quote.
I know it’s just the talking point of the day but, to what end?
Do these Pols really want to find out what tarring and feathering feels like?
Don’t poke the sleeping bear.
Sorry, Jane. The American people have the Consitutional right to redress our Congress. It’s too bad if you and your Democrat colleagues are too morally weak to understand that. How poor and pathetic you all are.
The Tea Party has unwittingly become the Yin to the ruling elite’s Yang. The Tea Party will be given enough rope, so they can be hanged with the blame of the coming chaos.
They've got enough time not to get quite that brazen. Militia groups, property rights protesters, an agent provocateur at a Tea Party... They'll peel one at a time just to take the edge off first. It'll be too quiet.
LOL...I read germane as game plan at first glance, both accurate descriptions though.
GB would do a great service by taking you up on your suggestion, actually he could go so far as to show the parallels of 30's Germany to what is going on here now but he'd never get away with it.
Too many Americans are unwilling to see or face the truth and that is sad, history is indeed repeating its self right before our very eyes.
I hope they wake up before it is too late.
The fire At 22:00hrs (UTC +1) on February 27, 1933, the Berlin Fire Department received a message that the Reichstag was on fire. Despite the best efforts of the firemen, the building was gutted by the blaze. By 23:30, the fire was put out. The firemen and policemen inspected the ruins and found twenty bundles of inflammable material unburned lying about. At the time the fire was reported, Adolf Hitler was having dinner with Joseph Goebbels at Goebbels' apartment in Berlin. When Goebbels received an urgent phone call informing him of the fire, he regarded it as a "tall tale" at first and, only after the second call, did he report the news to Hitler.[3] Hitler, Goebbels, the Vice-Chancellor Franz von Papen and Prince Heinrich Günther von Hohenzollern were taken by car to the Reichstag, where they were met by Hermann Göring. Göring told Hitler, "This is a Communist outrage! One of the Communist culprits has been arrested." Hitler called the fire a "sign from heaven", and claimed it was a Fanal (signal) meant to mark the beginning of a Communist Putsch (revolt). The next day, the Preussische Pressedienst (Prussian Press Service) reported that "this act of incendiarism is the most monstrous act of terrorism carried out by Bolshevism in Germany". The Vossische Zeitung newspaper warned its readers that "the government is of the opinion that the situation is such that a danger to the state and nation existed and still exists".[4]
These are the same people who would have been backing King George and demonizing the patriots leading up to the Revolutionary War. And where would that have gotten us?
I think this go around, with the severe threat of loss of Liberty, they will wonder why there are NOW real domestic "terrorists". Do I condone? No. Will I be surprised? nope. The leftists are CREATING a pressure cooker; and in my opinion, their doing it on purpose (ala, The Bolshevik bitch strolling the Capital with ridiculous gavel in hand when ordinarily they would take the "tunnel" in D.C. to get around (which is secured). She did that to stoke fires.)
Very good. As Chesterton said, “Tolerance is the virtue of the man with no convictions.”
Why would anybody be the least bit surprised by this sort of (very dangerous) nonsense...
Previously, if you disagreed with the leftist policies, you were spreading hate, i.e. “hate thought.”
Now that people are actually getting out and daring to protest and confront their political representatives, these people are seen as a threat, i.e. terrorists, since we all know that only leftists are allowed to protest.
Or maybe it’s just that the leftists are projecting what THEY would be doing in the protesters’ place.
Mark
Of course she did. Their arrogance is unending. They are hoping for someone to blow a gasket and strike out.
THEN they will have an excuse to crack down on the rest of us.
WE should be yelling, DO NOT give them an excuse.
MAKE it neccessary for them to COME OUT and PUBLICALLY state they are stripping FREEDOMS as an IDEOLOGICAL move.
LSD fries your brain if you stay in the sun too long
I'm at work during Limbaugh but do get to catch Beck's tv and radio show, here and there. It sounds to me like Beck knows what is coming. Who would have thought even a few months ago it would come this far, so fast.
An expensive use of reputation. There are two counter-tactics: Enlarge the early event to integrate opposition and get the thugs to back down long enough to take over (1994), and hunker down for the long war, suckering them into taking too big an early move.
Counter-tactics are useless without a counter-strategy, an infrastructure of resistance. The statists have been peeling that away for some time by regulatory means. It's time for us to get conscious about rebuilding it, NOW. Here's one device.
On the contrary, I think that they are on a roll since the passing of Obozocare. It's The Right that is coming unglued. November will put matters right - then The Left will really come unglued.
There is precedent that says the government may NOT prevent assembly of the people, if the purpose of the gathering is to petition the government for redress of grievances.
In Presser v. Illinois, some dude argued that the right to peaceably assemble, and the right to keep and bear arms both protected his right to conduct a parade with armed men, w/o a parade permit. The Presser court held that laws regarding parades do not interfere with the RKBA, and it also said:
The only clause in the constitution which, upon any pretense, could be said to have any relation whatever to [Presser's] right to associate with others as a military company, is found in the first amendment, which declares that 'congress shall make no laws ... abridging ... the right of the people peaceably to assemble and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.' This is a right which it was held in U. S. v. Cruikshank, above cited, was an attribute of national citizenship, and, as such, under the protection of, and guarantied by, the United States. But it was held in the same [Cruickshank] case that the right peaceably to assemble was not protected by the clause referred to, unless the purpose of the assembly was to petition the government for a redress of grievances.Washington, D.C. is under the exclusive jurisdiction of Congress, and Congress may not abridge the right of the people to assemble and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.
If the government revokes a permit for peaceable assembly to petition for redress of grievances, the government is acting in a clearly unconstitutional fashion.
From Cruikshank:
The right of the people peaceably to assemble for the purpose of petitioning Congress for a redress of grievances, or for any thing else connected with the powers or the duties of the national government, is an attribute of national citizenship, and, as such, under the protection of, and guaranteed by, the United States. The very idea of a government, republican in form, implies a right on the part of its citizens to meet peaceably for consultation in respect to public affairs and to petition for a redress of grievances.
Given the total lack of respect and regard that Congress has for the constitution, I would not be surprised at an action that denies permits to assemble. The government is cool with the idea of infringing the right to keep and bear arms, I presume it is cool with suppressing speech as well - see McCain-Feingold, for a law that does so.
Beck gives hints. He has said he is armed.
He also intimated once they are going to come after him.
Just last week, he said, "you may take me down, but I will go down swinging".
How is history any different than the present? In the whole history of humankind. Everything marches to the same drummer. Because at the heart of it, humans run the systems. And humans dont change.
And there are basically two types of humans. Those who want to be left alone and usually leave others alone. And then those who cannot rest until they control, people and things.
“The Democrats are conducting a communist coup. America knows it.”
America knows it and shows how easy it is to get away with it.
Tea Party member: "this is too much government control, and we don't have the money for it." Congressional Dem: "you're just a terrorist...and you hate women, children, homosexuals, and minorities too." They always throw in something extra to make sure the media takes the ball and runs with it.
