Oh my goodness!!!! Wow!

Well how in the world did you teach yourself typing?

I took a typing class in summer school of the 7th grade.

Little did I know that that course would serve me better than any other course I took throughout all my school years!

(Hey, I want to take up piano again - something I tried for about a year and a half - and was good at it - but I quit because of being so painfully shy about performing in front of people for the recitals I had to do... What do you advise is the best way to do that at my old age?)

Get the Book “Alfred’s Complete Adult Piano Course”, a No-Nonsense approach, which will have you playing again in no time! If you already play, start with Level Two. But Level One is also Good if you need to start with the basics.

Also Go To Amazon and find the Book “Nuthin’ But The Blues” for Blues Piano Riffs to add some of those to your Toolbox. All The Chords and Blues Scales around the Circle of Fifths are in the Back of the Book.

I type about as well as I speak Russian. Which is to say, ochen ploxo i myedleno (very poorly and slowly!)

I never FORCE my kids to do Recitals. I ALLOW them to be in them, only if they are VERY VERY GOOD! And believe me, THAT motivates them to WANT to be in them! LOL!

I’m not left that other site, and don’t even play s/he on TV, but did take up the violin when I became a “certain age”.

I took some lessons, got tired of hearing 4 yr olds whip my azz, so bought music books that have the lessons on cd’s. Mine have the song with the whole orchestra (including the violin part), or just the violin part. That helped a lot, as I can practice in the privacy of my room (or annoy the heck outta the neighbors (take THAT grammar police, and do note the parens within parens that should be brackets but I’m lazy so I wrote you (grammar police) this run-on sentence instead!)

Whatever, practice, practice, and more practice is key. Sadly, since my operation, I haven’t had the violin out of its case (GP, please note the correct use of “its”). My oncologist told my husband after surgery that I probably wouldn’t be able to play the violin, as he assumed I’d never touched one. When told I already could play one, he said it would take some time and be painful for a bit, but I’d be able to. Cool. However, my career as a southpaw pitcher is over! (that is a joke, I’m totally a left-field player)

So, just Do It!!!
