I’m not left that other site, and don’t even play s/he on TV, but did take up the violin when I became a “certain age”.

I took some lessons, got tired of hearing 4 yr olds whip my azz, so bought music books that have the lessons on cd’s. Mine have the song with the whole orchestra (including the violin part), or just the violin part. That helped a lot, as I can practice in the privacy of my room (or annoy the heck outta the neighbors (take THAT grammar police, and do note the parens within parens that should be brackets but I’m lazy so I wrote you (grammar police) this run-on sentence instead!)

Whatever, practice, practice, and more practice is key. Sadly, since my operation, I haven’t had the violin out of its case (GP, please note the correct use of “its”). My oncologist told my husband after surgery that I probably wouldn’t be able to play the violin, as he assumed I’d never touched one. When told I already could play one, he said it would take some time and be painful for a bit, but I’d be able to. Cool. However, my career as a southpaw pitcher is over! (that is a joke, I’m totally a left-field player)

So, just Do It!!!

LOL - what a neat post! (I am not an official member of the Grammar Police unit here...so I won’t tell them about the run-on sentence...).

Thank you for those added suggestions about the piano thing.

What good ideas!

Yes, practice, practice, practice - that was ANOTHER reason I dropped piano when I was 11. Hopefully I have overcome that aversion to practicing piano.

Thanks for the advice and God bless you and enable you to take that violin out of the case again soon!
