The Atlantic ^ | April 2, 2010 | Marc Ambinder

Clearly a Freudian slip by the president, but I wonder what Mitt Romney thinks of being anointed by Obama so early. Here's what he said, in an interview with CBS News's Harry Smith: "Yeah, the--the sort of plan proposed by current Republican nominee Mitt Romney, yeah." The context: after the jump.

Mitt Romney would make a great President if he were completely different.

I heard Obama say that, yesterday. I have been waiting for someone to mention it. Who says that Romney is the GOP nominee. Actually, I think that Obama said Romney was the current GOP presidential candidate. It’s the same thing, but more of an obfuscation than an out and out lie.

Obama—He’s an idiot. He has political skillzz and nothing else. Every day he tries to see what kind of lies he can get away with.

Even if you did support Romney (and one has to wonder why) the fact barry wants him as the nominee should end any support.

Obama is HOPING it will be Mitt Romney.

Most of the rest of us are hoping it won’t be.

Well obviously the DNC and MSM have their REPUB candidate of choice (their REPUB version of a Harlem Globetrotter’s opponent).

Smart money in January of ‘68 was a Poppa Romney/ LBJ showdown in November. Only an idiot picks a probable nominee 2 years out.

No, he isn’t hoping that.

Oh, yes he is. Romney has to be pretty much the only Republican challenger who could actually lose to Obama, short of a Perot-style 3rd party saboteur. With RomneyCare hanging like a weight around his neck, he has no credibility to attack Obama.

Was it a slip, or not? If it was, then it should be viewed one way - it if wasn't, if it was, instead, an attempt to disseminate disinformation - then it should be viewed in an entirely different manner.

RomneyCARE-creator and carpetbagging, fascist imposer Mitt Romney:
”Now that my Romneycare is national, ready to hurt hundreds of millions,
a little self examination may be in order for you conservative FReepers.
You may want to ask yourself “if I had spent my time promoting
RomneyCare and Mitt Romney, could not I have garnered more support
of both Mr. Obama and Gov. Mitt Romney?“

“Romney praises Obama again
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney praised President Obama
at a GOP fundraising dinner Wednesday ..
"I also think it's important for us to nod to the president when he's right," Romney said....
Romney, who spoke at a dinner for the National Republican Senatorial Committee,
said he's pleased with the president's plans to "finish the job" in Iraq and Afghanistan
-- lines that drew applause from the partisan audience. He also applauded the president
for standing up to the auto industry.
"I hope he continues to be tough ....The former businessman even offered faint praise for
Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner, saying that after a series of initial missteps,
"I think he's finally getting close to the right answer."
