He made the decision to do so sparingly, it was called the new tone, and it failed miserably helping lead to his (and the Republicans) popular demise.

It was a miscalcuunderestimation of his political foes.

I tell you, Lakeshark, it was based on his principles regarding the dignity of the office and the importance of continuing to BE the President.

Working with Dems had happened in Texas and he thought it should work in DC. Obviously, he was wrong, because he underestimated the vicious, evil nature of his opponents, but he did what he did because he thought it was right.

I don't fault anyone for behaving according to his own principles. Never will.

Christian first, politician second. I still like that. And I will always admire George W. Bush because he lives what he believes. He will be rewarded for it when the rewards actually count.
