To: Lakeshark
I tell you, Lakeshark, it was based on his principles regarding the dignity of the office and the importance of continuing to BE the President.

Working with Dems had happened in Texas and he thought it should work in DC. Obviously, he was wrong, because he underestimated the vicious, evil nature of his opponents, but he did what he did because he thought it was right.

I don't fault anyone for behaving according to his own principles. Never will.

Christian first, politician second. I still like that. And I will always admire George W. Bush because he lives what he believes. He will be rewarded for it when the rewards actually count.

I liked Reagan's communication as a president much better, he continued to use the presidency to educate people and it worked. He didn't do the nassty partisan stuff that Bambi does, yet he communicated his vision. GW Bush was the opposite, and it left a void in the public square that the lefties drove several trucks through.

It may have been an honest, principled mistake, but it was still a mistake.
