That’s my problem with it. What is the purpose of having homosexuals state their preference in the military? I don’t think it is necessary for heterosexuals to state their preference either.
The homosexual lobby’s main concern s with normalizing this behavior. It is not normal and it is against the religious beliefs of many Americans and they are tired of having this stuff crammed down their throats.
If they really wish to serve then they simply need not tell anyone they are homosexuals. Most will probably figure it out on their own anyway. Homosexuals have served in the military for as long as their has been one. It is only in this generation’s morally upside down culture that they want a place of honor to go along with it.
The “gay” movement would probably garner more public support if they were less militant in their tactics. A clear majority of Americans are extremely tolerant ( as in generously tolerant) of this behavior, but don’t expect us to classify it as “normal” or equal to marriage between a man and a woman.
Clearly it is NOT.

To the mentally healthy person (heterosexual), sex is something you do.
To the mentally diseased person ('homosexual'), Sex is everything you are.
For the sodomites it's all about the sex. It has always been all about the sex. It will always be all about the sex. Their entire self worth and self image is determined by the sex. Without the sex they are nothing. Which is why they always want everyone to know about the sex.
