Initial claims for unemployment benefits fell slightly last week as the recovering economy moves closer to generating more jobs.
The Labor Department said Thursday that new jobless benefit claims dropped 6,000 to a seasonally adjusted 439,000, nearly matching analysts' estimates. It's the fourth drop in five weeks.
The four-week average of claims, which smooths volatility, fell by nearly 7,000 to 447,250, the lowest total since the week of Sept. 13, 2008, just before Lehman Brothers collapsed and the financial crisis intensified.

Absolutely unbelievable
439,000 people lose their jobs because of the ignorant Marxist a$$ clown, and Always Propaganda (AP) states it as a sign that the recovering economy moves closer to generating more jobs.
I AM SO SICK OF THIS POS AND HIS ENABLING MINIONS! This crap can not end soon enough!

Yah, I’m sure those 439,000 Americans who had to file EI claims are really thrilled by the fact that the number wasn’t actually wasn’t 445,000. The hole is getting deeper and wider, but the MSM still parrot the Dems spin that this is somehow good news because the rate of digging has slowed by 1%!!
To: tobyhill
(only 439,000 lost their jobs) That is incorrect. Only 439,000 filed for unemployment. There are always people who lose their job and don't file.

Get ready for the employment numbers to show that 200,000 jobs were created and that will receive praise from all ends of the White House while ignoring the fact that there is still net job losses.

I can hardly take it all in. That’s almost half a million; are they talking a week or for the month?

a week. They will report a job gain for the month of approx 200,000. Take the 4 weeks of job loses and subtract the measly 200,000 created and you get the real total of how many lost their jobs who actually filed.

"Jobs, jobs, jobs! Is that all you people think about?
What about healthcare? What about the environment? What about income redistribution?"
"Are you at all concerned with FAIRNESS???"

If they show 200,000 new jobs, that would mean 200,000 over and above the jobs lost.

Is there a REAL running count of how many people have actually lost their job since Bambi took office.
if we are losing approx 100,000 or more per week, the number must be staggering!

Obammy changes the calculation method about every month or so to keep people from seeing the real numbers. The “job creation” last month will count Census Workers which distorts the true numbers since they are only temp and most part-time.
