WASHINGTON (March 31) -- Do Democrats need a new "silent majority" to speak up and save them from electoral ruin in November? Does such a group even exist? And, if it does, will the tea party movement prove to be the right-wing mirror of the leftist anti-war movement of the 1960s?
These are not idle questions for President Barack Obama, who has seen little bounce from his party's victory in passing health care reform legislation.
"The good news for Democrats, after health care passed, was that Democratic intensity levels went up," party strategist James Carville told reporters Wednesday. The bad news, he said, was that they don't nearly approach the enthusiasm levels among Republicans riled up and angry over what they see as deficit-ridden big government. If that continues until November, he said, "that doesn't bode well for Democrats" and their current edge in Congress.

What would this “democRat silent majority” be in favor of?
More fascism?
Leftists are not typically silent.
So true...leftists speak out loud and often. It takes tons of napkins to wipe the b.s. off their lips!
LOL!
As if one must be a Republican to be concerned with the runaway spending in this administration--even before Abucare! Anyone who can add and subtract should have looked at the numbers and be worried sick by now.
Carville is trying to make this out to be a partisan issue at the grass roots level, too, but that is not the case. Any Democrat with a lick of sense (not necessarily mutually exclusive parameters) should be opposed to the Healthcare measure, too. Any Democrat who does not want their party to be the harbinger of the Fourth Reich should be concerned with the usurpations of power, the workarounds to the Constitutional processes, and the raw power/money grab going on in D.C.
But then, the Democrats I grew up around were lovers of America, and were far to the Right of the bunch in foggy bottom today.
Tea Partiers ARE the silent majority.
And how does Carville see this fiasco if not as deficit-ridden BIG government? When they nationalize the auto companies, many banks, and now health care, and then spend an extra 1.5T to $2t each year more than they take in, the defining feature of this national socialist government has to be its deficit-ridden nature.
They knew this, and forced it down our throats anyway.
Let the taking of the Hill, tsunami, commence.
Obama talked of the sea levels rising.
But does he see the Tsunami that’s coming????
“Tea Partiers ARE the silent majority.”
My friend, they WERE the silent majority.
:-)
Atlantis.
CORRECTION: They ARE the majority and they WERE silent.
There - the ultimate fix - Grin.
Think about it ... this is why “Left” talk radio doesn’t work. What is there to be “for”? If there would be a “silent majority” ... it would be because they fell asleep!
which is all you need to know about why AOLTIMEWARNERCNN is in the dumper
“Tea Partiers ARE the silent majority”
Exactly,
And for every one of them at an event, there are thousands more.
