I have some good news, and some not so good news for you all. First, the not so good news. I am so sorry to inform you, my loyal listeners and friends, that, as of this morning at 8:30, I am no longer employed by WTIC 1080. Over the course of four months, we were unable to reach an agreement on a new contract. I want you to know I would never think of leaving you without saying good bye, especially in turbulent times like this, but the station made the decision to keep me off the air for the final day of my contract. So this will have to be my way of saying thank you. You are the most loyal and as the SOS says, brightest, well informed audience that any talker could have.

Please mention any and all sponsors of the show you have given business to over the years because you learned about them from Jim on "Sound Off Connecticut".
Jim had listeners from all over the United States via online streaming, not just here in deep-blue Connecticut. I have only pinged Connecticut FReepers here (with a couple of exceptions), but if you have other friends - FReepers or otherwise - who are fans of "Sound Off Connecticut" with Jim Vicevich, please encourage them to e-mail WTIC radio as well.
I told WTIC that if they don't re-sign Jim Vicevich, I am done with them forever. And my history with this station goes way back to the days of Bob Steele and Jean Colbert... yeah, that's a LONG time ago!

there’s your answer...in an industry filled with tightwads, the radio division of CBS is the cheapest of the cheap
PLEASE do not bug Brian Partridge about this situation. He is the Web guy for the group, and not management.
Don’t bug Dana either, she’s not management either (at least I don’t think so).
I know that Jim appreciates your words and efforts, but I think sending an e-mail to the comments address would be enough.
Cheers,
Steve

Your welcome nutmeg! You did what you could best do.
Well, like as I said, CBS is not afraid to pay a ton of money to Katie Couric, but in their radio side, can be a bit tight.
Thanks for the message, Steve! I didn't realize you were on FR. :o)
So an e-mail to the Programming Department and to wticcomments@cbs.com is OK?
I will re-ping my list with your message when I hear back from you... thanks again.
You make an excellent point here, FRiend...
I wrote to wticcomments@cbs.com just to express my disappointment in no longer being able to hear Jim’s program on WTIC. Sound off Connecticut was the only reason I turned on WTIC M-F 9-noon and left it on WTIC until 3.
Jim gone, I’m gone.
Steve, very sorry that things could not be worked out. Feel quite saddened by the news and will miss it very much. Sure hope Jim will find greener pastures elsewhere. I’ll follow him, he is a delightful host, entertaining, fun, had the best guests and the music was fantastic.
mojo114, thanks for e-mailing WTIC. We'll see if our e-mails do any good (I sure hope so!).
I second your comments regarding "Sound Off Connecticut" and host Jim Vicevich. It's a sad day for all of us here in Connecticut - and beyond. Many days I enjoyed SOC more than Rush Limbaugh's show, and that's saying a lot!
Jim was a fabulous host, and gave callers (like my husband and some of my FReeper friends) ample time to express their comments. Jim was even involved "on the street" with us - his listeners - via tea parties, rallies and town halls. His guests were incredible... the best on radio, IMO! The music and sound clips were amazing, and spot on every time. Jim's taste in music opened up an entire new world of music for my husband and me. We attended two of his "Sound Off Connecticut" summer concerts and his house party featuring Cadillac Sky last summer.
And our thanks (and prayers) go out to the Sound Off Sister, who provided us with valuable legal assistance during the 14-month-long health care debate. I never heard anything similar on ANY other radio show, nor even on Fox News.
I agree... if WTIC is done with Jim, I'm done with WTIC. And my history with WTIC goes back to my grandparents.
I will also follow Jim via his blog RadioVice Online, and look forward to the day when he is back on the radio - where he was meant to be, IMO.

WTIC-AM has long been in decline on many fronts and this loss may help finish them as a viable broadcast entity. Rush Limbaugh will probably be dropped soon as a 'cost-cutting' measure and at that point, WTIC-AM can turn off the lights and call it a day. Sad.
Sadly, I suspect, this sacking of Jim will cause WTIC AM to not only lose more listeners, but business as well. One person I feel very bad for is Ray Donaway. Look for him not too far away, to look at retire back to KS where he comes from. I may look at WHUS for UConn games. WTIC AM/See BS Radio shot itself in the foot letting Jim go.
I joined in Jim Vicevich chatroom online broadcast this morning. Had a great time. Jim gave me props for a point I made in the chat. I will stay tuned into his blog and chatroom to catch his online shows. WTIC is forever off in my house. Red Sox have other stations in their network.
I like Ray.. but as you stated He's no Jimmy V.... them are some big shoes to fill... they better not put computer talk or garden talk in his place!!..lol
Your right! He is a threat.. to the leftist machine... Dan Lavolo is the only other true conservative talk show host out there in Ct wasteland to fill the gap.
WTIC-AM has long been in decline on many fronts and this loss may help finish them as a viable broadcast entity.
I am SO upset that Jim Vicevich isn't on the radio anymore - it just ruins my mornings. I stumbled onto his "online show" on Thursday morning (via his chat room), but I didn't even know he would be on... it was a lucky find. It was fun, but... not the same.
Jim seems to be excited that he may "expand" (?) into blog talk radio. I sure hope that's not going to be where he ends up. If so I can only be an occasional listener. I can't be tied to a computer between certain hours each day, nor do I want to deal with an iPhone or a podcast just to hear Jim V. I want to simply hear him live, Monday thru Friday, 9am - 12 noon on old-fashioned radio like I used to. I could be wrong, but blogtalk radio shows have "handfuls" of listeners, not millions.
Right now I can hear stations on my AM/FM radio clearly anywhere in my house (including cellar, basement and in the yard), office and all over CT in my car.
My husband - who used to be one of Jim's regular callers - will never be able to listen to Jim via blogtalk radio, chat room nor online streaming. It just won't work for him, although radio worked perfectly. He will sadly become one of Jim's former listeners.
I know many seniors and other tech-challenged types who will also sadly be among Jim's former listeners because they only listen to conservative talk on radio, not online. They don't do online streaming, iPhone, Twitter, chat rooms, FaceBook, etc. I've talked to many of these people lately. - They miss Jim Vicevich badly, but are already tuning into Glenn Beck's show on WHYN or WDRC. It's convenient to simply just turn on the radio in the house and car.
I'm hanging onto the hope that WTIC - or some radio station - will sign Jim up in his old time slot and let him do his thing. Jim had excellent ratings, from what I understand. Why the heck won't WTIC re-negotiate with Jim and pay him what he's worth??
Jim's show was such a huge success and he had a fiercely loyal fanbase. A good chunk of those fiercely loyal fans will be cut out if they can't hear Jim again on AM/FM radio. It's just sad....
Totally agree with your comments. Mornings are not the same and I don’t like it either.
Getting more done though.
