General Who Advocated Maintaining Gay Ban Won’t Be Reprimanded

The U.S. Army will not discipline a general who publicly urged troops to speak out against the proposed repeal of the military’s policy against gays serving openly.

Lieutenant General Benjamin R. Mixon will not be formally reprimanded, Army Secretary John McHugh said today. “We consider the matter closed as of today,” McHugh told reporters.

Mixon, of Fort Shafter, Hawaii, wrote a letter to the editor of Stars and Stripes newspaper saying he didn’t believe that most military personnel would support repeal of the military’s “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy, and he called on troops and their families who agree to write their representatives in Congress and superiors in the chain of command.

Defense Secretary Robert Gates and Admiral Mike Mullen, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, both said Mixon’s comments were inappropriate. McHugh said he agreed and that Army chief of staff, General George Casey, had counseled Mixon to this effect.

Mixon now “recognizes the difficulties in appearing to become an advocate in trying to shape the opinion of the force rather than ascertain” its view on the issue, McHugh said.

General we salute you! Why would anyone with any sense think that the interests of a radical egotistical minority even rise to the level of trumping the record of an effective General? Isn't it time to stop the catering to these sexual/behaviorally ignorant evolutionary dead end deviants?

No, not formally

Not discipline?

I seriously hope that is in response to administration pressure to do so, rather than a reflection of the command structure being lenient because they disagree with him.

God Bless you, general!

**No, not formally**

He will no doubt “retire” in a few weeks.

Military service is hard on families. At some point you realize that you need to spend more time with them :)

Yep, but I wouldn’t see a fourth star on that uniform.

Whenever he retires, it won’t be with four stars.

***Military service is hard on families.***

Yes, it is.

***At some point you realize that you need to spend more time with them :)***

The retirment will be driven by someone above him.

He won't be reprimanded because DOD policy explicitly allows uniformed service personnel permission to write letters to the editors of newspapers.

DoD Directive 1344.10

The only thing that might have been problematic for the general, is that he may not have clearly expressed that these were his personal opinions, and not those of the DoD. I haven't seen his entire letter, so he may have done this, I'm just not sure.

He is not facing formal charges.

GOs can be told their services are no longer required and advised that retirment is in their best intrest.

I’ll be 50 cents he will be gone by July.

Such wanton administrative destructiveness by this administration!

Thought crimes, reductions in freedom of speech, and a general rise in the fear of government, here we go!

The Administration would have a full military revolt against it if Gen. Mixon were “reprimanded.”

The last thing Obama wants is a flood of resignations from the military on this issue, especially at this time.

It happened when Bill Clinton issued his executive order mandating that open gays and lesbians could then serve in the military. That set off an immediate military/civilian rebellion against the order, and Clinton, which was soon replaced by “Don’t ask. Don’t Tell”—which works and should not be done away with.

Someone needs to tell that desk-jockey assclown Mullen that the Constitution doesn't strip away the voting and citizen rights of soliders. They have just as much of a right to disagree with the political judgement of the President and their representatives as anyone else.

BTW, Mullen, who has expressed indifference for the absurdly accused Navy SEALs and is now pushing the gay agenda hard, has never served a single minute of combat in his life. How the hell does such a person get to be the highest ranking military man in America? By keeping his nose near Obama's ass at all times. Sickening.
