Guests for the first show include country singer Toby Keith, rapper/actor LL Cool J and Jack Welch. Get excited.

The show will “focus on a range of such stories including a Marine Medal of Honor recipient who gave his live to save his comrades.” But also there will be the celebrity guests – a very broad range of celebrity guests.

What did Reagan do between losing to Ford in ‘76 and running again in ‘80?”

He worked on his ranch, gave speeches, did radio commentaries and wrote a weekly newspaper column.
Don't see that much difference between what he did and what Sarah Palin is doing right now, apart from Sarah Palin doesn’t own a ranch, and Plain is working on TV instead of on radio like Reagan did. They both gave speeches around the country, and Sarah Palin has written plenty of Op-Eds in all kinds of publications including USA Today, The Washington Post and the Wall Street Journal.

There are rules?

Sarah is in the public eye because the MSM wants to diminish her. If she picks her own venues she is in charge. Additionally, as another FReeper pointed out - she is presenting herself to a young audience.

SHE is the interviewer - NOT Katie Couric, NOT Matt Lauer, NOT Rick Sanchez - etc.,

If this is a campaign exploratory commission - she is making new rules -not breaking them. Remember, the rules were made to help Democrats.

You couldn't be more wrong.

I certainly hope so. Nothing would make me happier, except a Palin/Condy ticket.

Naaaah.
Waht I see are the hopes of the anyone-but-Palin crowd getting crushed like a cheap balloon.

It’s a lot bigger exposure on FOX for Sarah; that’s about it as far as differences go. TV is also a little riskier just because expression comes into play as well as what is said.

Sarah is preparing herself not to be a Barry Goldwater but a Reagan and yet I believe she will be something more.

Your super overrating of Sarah Palin is a bad if not worse than the left wing lunatics overrating of Obama. You simply are too blind with your adoration to Palin to realize how silly you are.

It’s a good point. Can you imagine GWB or Cheney hosting their own show? Are you a politician or a TV Star? Sorry Sarah, it’s not your smartest move (unless you never plan to run for office).

All of the men you mentioned were given vast amount of respect and good press before they ran for President. Whether they deserved it or not.

I don't know how old you are, but if you think Ronald Reagan was given a “vast amount of respect and good press” by the press before he ran for President, you are totally mistaken, or maybe you were not alive then.
The press portrayed Reagan as some kind of amiable idiot, an air head, and someone bereft of much intellectual heft

NORMAN PODHORETZ wrote an article about it in the Wall street Journal just yesterday:

Nothing annoys certain of my fellow conservative intellectuals more than when I remind them, as on occasion I mischievously do, that the derogatory things they say about Sarah Palin are uncannily similar to what many of their forebears once said about Ronald Reagan.

It's hard to imagine now, but 31 years ago, when I first announced that I was supporting Reagan in his bid for the 1980 Republican presidential nomination, I was routinely asked by friends on the right how I could possibly associate myself with this “airhead,” this B movie star, who was not only stupid but incompetent. They readily acknowledged that his political views were on the whole close to ours, but the embarrassing primitivism with which he expressed them only served, they said, to undermine their credibility. In any case, his base was so narrow that he had no chance of rescuing us from the disastrous administration of Jimmy Carter.”

Reagan hosted his own radio shows for years. Didn't do him any harm did it? He ended up wining my the biggest landslides this country has seen for decades.

I hear what everyone is saying. I, personally, just don’t get it. I do get the FB and Twitter commentaries. Those are very effective in pushing conservative opinions. But how is hosting a documentary about Alaska and featurettes about “Real Americans” countering the liberal agenda? It’s not like she’s hosting a political commentary show (e.g. Beck, O’Reilly, Hannity). Maybe I’m just being dense and not seeing the big picture.

I liked the way she copied his “I quit” thing as governor. Very Reaganesque

I like this better:

***It’s not like she’s hosting a political commentary show**

Brilliant!

She will be ploughing new ground - new viewers. I’m sure political discussions will be included - but perhaps we should wait and see.

She is objective, intelligent, experienced, & patriotic with a great sense of humor - and she MUST REFUTE ALL THE VICIOUS PROPOGANDA by the MSM that has slandered her for the past year. This is Sarah’s turn at bat!

Imagine if Dan Quayle had seized such an opportunity!

One thing you can’t get around....she quit. All the Reagan comparisons go out the window on that. “Quit one for the Gipper” doesn’t have the same ring to it...

In less than 2 years she goes from being an obscure governor to one of the most significant conservatives in the country. Yea, that really sounds washed up to me.

Agreed - it’s like she’s jumping at every opportunity to be on tv. I think she’s doing some show about Alaska as well.
