They don’t want to think beyond “I feel good about myself for advocating this”, and making them state that they are willing to have people killed for non-compliance bursts that bubble.
BTW, I’ve halted a discussion on a lefty topic by demanding that, before they go any further, they admit it -
and rather than doing so, I got the equivalent of hands-over-the-ears and “la la la I can’t hear you”.
I’ve gotten essentially the same response from Liberals so enthralled with their own “selfless” compassion that they cannot admit to the true nature of their motivations or of the government actions of which they approve. Once in a while, if you can actually crack the façade, what you will see there, even if momentarily, is a dark place poisoned by self-loathing and resentment at the necessity of responsibility.
