FRANCE'S top administrative body has advised the government against slapping a complete ban on the full Islamic veil but says outlawing the burqa in some places was justified for security reasons.
MPs from President Nicolas Sarkozy's party said they were determined to push for a total ban of the full-face veil in draft legislation to be presented in the coming weeks.
Jean Leonetti, insisted a total ban was the only answer and that MPs could well decide to ignore the State Council's recommendations.
"A ban needs to be complete or else it is misunderstood," said Mr Leonetti. "We still are of the view that a message needs to be sent that is clear and does not waver in terms of its implementation."
Mr Sarkozy has declared the burqa "not welcome"...
Home to Europe's biggest Muslim minority estimated at between five and six million, France has been debating a ban on the veil, with supporters arguing it is a sign of creeping fundamentalism that must not be allowed to take hold.

Limit it to infidels only!
If muslim religious extremists want a full face burqa, why don’t they move back to the Taliban style countries where they
will be accepted?
Why do they want to live in a modern western country like France
and practice 13 centuries old traditions? It is asinine.
The muslims are an invading army intent on global conquest.
They are not interested in mutual respect.
Obey, Slavery, or death.
>It is asinine.
Not quite.
It is the unrelenting desire and vision to have Islam supreme.
To many it sounds like a joke, but they do believe it and by adroitly using western laws and freedoms, seek to achieve the superiority of Islam by all means possible.
Sometimes the bomb, sometimes the court.
We see it here in the USA. Gender and religiously segregated pool hours exclusively for Muslim women at Harvard.
At least the French are attempting to rein in the encroachments.
The only place it should be permitted is inside a Mosque or if the woman is at prayer.
Anywhere else it should be considered wearing a mask in public as which is illegal (in the USA).
The first major country the muslims invaded was India.
And after 13 centuries have passed since the invasion,
they still have not conquered India.
If one studies the history of India, it becomes crystal
clear why the muslims failed to conquer.
It was the military defeat of muslim rulers by a hindu warlord in the 17th century is what stopped the expansion
of islam.
Actually, Persia was the first non Arab country invaded.
As far as Shivaji beating Aurangzeb, IMO, it was the British that ultimately saved Hindu India by not allowing future Moghul Emperors to expand into the South of India.
The Marathas stand against the depredations of Aurangzeb no doubt contributed. But Islam’s relentless expansionsim leaves no doubt in my mind that eventually it would have triumphed over Southern India.
I know, it’s not a popular viewpoint.
“Why do they want to live in a modern western country like France
and practice 13 centuries old traditions? It is asinine.”
To enjoy the fruits of French culture, architecture, food, clean society, etc. Basically they want to be carried. It’s not like they have a religion that allows them to be flawed and go about life.
They have to spend 24/7 working on being perfect humans so actually living life is beyond them.
Also the Muslim Arabs pounced on Byzantine (Eastern-Roman) Empire in the 7th century (641 C.E.).
After their conquest of the Byzantine provinces of Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, and ... they invaded Egypt in December 641 C.E.
Since India is 15 times bigger in population than Iran,
I consider India a major country and Iran a middling at best.
Also the defeat of the slow moving mughal armies by the much more agile maratha’s precedes the rule of first British governor general, Warren Hastings by 100+ years. And Hastings
was the head of East India company of Bengal, and not yet a country wide colony.
>Iran a middling
Well, maybe, but ancient Queen’s Semiramis and her forays into India, and then the glories of the Cyrus, Darius, Xerxes speak to a glorious past.
And they almost got Greece. Almost.
And is population that good a criteria?
After all, the tiny island nation of Britain ruled the waves, and later, the tiny island nation of Japan almost took China and all the European colonies of the East.
Again almost, but still no reason to disparage the Iranis, IMO.
>slow moving mughal armies by the much more agile marathas precedes the rule of first British governor general, Warren Hastings by 100+ years.
Absolutely correct.
But time was on the side of the Islamis, personified by the Moghuls.
As the East India Company encroached into India and then was replaced by the Raj, British commercial, mercantile and strategic interests had the effect of spiking further Islamic penetration, conversions and takeover of the non Muslim kingdoms.
