AZ-Sen. 2010: Palin supports war veterans for House (like the "war hero" Old [vulgarity del.] McCain

(snip)

"America, if you love your freedom, thank a vet!" Palin wrote on her Facebook page. "And if you're looking for leaders who believe in integrity, service, and country first, look to our veterans."

"Last week I campaigned for a true American hero, John McCain, and this week I'd ask you to join me in supporting a new generation of heroes who are heeding their country's call for leadership in Washington," she added.

(snip) [mod addition - here is what the original poster decided to NOT include]:

There are a number of great veteran candidates running for office this year, and there are some excellent organizations dedicated to helping them, including: Iraq Vets for Congress and Combat Veterans for Congress (please click on the links to visit their websites).

There are three veterans in particular I’ll be supporting this week.

The first is Major Vaughn Ward, a fourth-generation Idaho native who grew up on his family’s farm in Shoshone and is running in Idaho’s 1st Congressional District. Coming from a family with a proud military tradition, Vaughn joined the Marine Corps after college and was finishing up his service when the September 11th attacks occurred. He put his life on hold and heeded his country’s call – serving first as a CIA Operations Officer and later volunteering with the Marine Corps for a combat tour in Iraq, during which he was awarded the Bronze Star with Combat V. After returning from Iraq, Vaughn went to work for the McCain/Palin campaign. I was grateful for his support then, and I’m happy to support him now because I know that he believes in the same commonsense conservative ideals that we cherish. Vaughn knows that real job growth comes from the private sector, not government. He believes in free market reforms, tax relief for families and small businesses, and a return to a constitutionally limited government that lives within its means. He’ll carry the conservative banner to Washington and will rein in the reckless growth of government to get it back on our side. And remember, a vote for Vaughn is a vote to remove the gavel from Nancy Pelosi’s grip. Please visit Vaughn’s website here to make a donation to his campaign, and follow him on Facebook and Twitter.

The second veteran is Captain Adam Kinzinger, a decorated special-operations pilot who flew combat missions in Iraq and Afghanistan. Adam is running for Illinois’ 11th Congressional District against a freshman incumbent congresswoman who seemed to pull a bait and switch on voters to get elected. She sounded like a blue dog on the campaign trail, but didn’t vote like one in Washington. Instead, she voted in lockstep with the Pelosi agenda – on Obamacare, the stimulus, cap-and-tax – and the list goes on. She’s part of the reason for Congress’ 11% approval rating. Adam is a strong fiscal conservative with a proven track record as a reformer from his years serving on his local county board. Adam started out in local office, and, like many of us, believes in making government more accountable to the people. When you serve in local office, your constituents truly are your neighbors. Adam understands this, and I know that he will listen to his constituents and work for us, not against us, in Washington. Please visit Adam’s website here to make a donation to his campaign, and follow him on Facebook and Twitter.

The third veteran is Lieutenant Colonel Allen West, a decorated war hero who’s served with distinction in combat zones in Iraq and Afghanistan. Many of you may have heard of Allen from a speech he gave last year that became a viral video on YouTube with over 2 million viewers. Allen’s personal story is a testament to the commonsense conservative belief that our nation’s greatness is rooted in freedom, because with freedom comes equal opportunity, and that, coupled with hard work, leads to success. Allen is a small government fiscal conservative running against a leftwing ideologue who’s marched to the beat of Nancy Pelosi on every issue from cap-and-tax to the stimulus, TARP, and, of course, Obamacare. It’s time to send Allen to Washington in his place. Please visit Allen’s website here to donate to his campaign, and follow him on Facebook and Twitter.

I believe that these great veterans will fight for us in D.C. to uphold and defend our constitution as courageously in the halls of Congress as they did on the field of battle. I’m so honored to offer my support to these American heroes, and I hope you’ll join me in helping them so that they can serve us all in Washington.

AS much as her support of McCain bothers me, I do understand her point of view to a certain extent.

I was watching an interview with her at the rally held in Reid’s hometown and how she answered questions and voiced our point of view. I said it once and I’ll say it again, I would love to see her as the GOP nominee in 2012. I would love to see her take on Obama and his minions. She can speak to the common person, breaking down issues into sound bites and get people emotionally in tune with the issues like no one presently discussed as a GOP nominee. Heck, like no one on the GOP side since Reagan.

I know people feel she is unelectable and may be damaged goods. I sort of feel that way. But I wonder, if after another year or so of Obamalism if the public may start to be more attracted to an “anti - Obama” type of communicator who isn’t afraid to speak plainly and call things what they are.

A rancher in AZ and his dog were murdered by illegals the other day.

This is “war hero” McCain’s amnesty legacy. Palin needs to give it a rest. MCCain is a despicable person.

McCain wasn’t a coward. I don’t know why you must default to name calling. Fight McCain on his record. Leave the name calling to 4 year olds.

Yup. Tea Party not the digusting lib term. Patriots.

John McCain call Americans concerned about open borders (like the rancher murdered in AZ with his dog) - Racists.

I loathe the man as much as anyone else. But his service to our country is undeniable and every single freeper should applaud it.

Not only that... but our arguments against McCain should rise above the level of name calling. If it can’t, then perhaps we have bigger problems.

Feb. 2008

GOP Senators Reassess Views About McCain
His Old Foes Still Wary Of His Pugnacious Style

This is what Thad had to say just a few days ago. “The thought of his being president sends a cold chill down my spine”Sen. Thad Cochran (R-Miss.), also a senior member of the Appropriations panel, told the Boston Globe recently. “He is erratic. He is hotheaded. He loses his temper and he worries me

“John was very rough in the sandbox,” said former senator Rick Santorum (R-Pa.), who is outspoken in his opposition to McCain’s candidacy. “Everybody has a McCain story. If you work in the Senate for a while, you have a McCain story. . . . He hasn’t built up a lot of goodwill.”
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/02/03/AR2008020303242.htm

I’ve come to the conclusion that most of McCain’s support is reluctant at best.

Unless you are in Arizona, then what you think (or I think) about McCain doesn’t matter. In the end, the good people of Arizona will decide between JD and McCain.

I see you’re still trying to trash Sarah Palin to the point where you change the title of the article to suit your agenda, PAULTARD.

She’s endorsed three worthy veterans for Congress and you want to diminish them in your reprehensible attempt to define her by her endorsement of McCain.

I’m with you Rinny. I don’t want to be part of the “nasty” side of politics. My values, which I think are conservative values, make me loathe namecalling.

I know the Democrats do it.

I know that strong feelings make it hard to resist.

I know that current politics makes us feel powerless.

I, for one, would rather be powerless than lose my sense of self. “Old Yellowstain” for John McCain?

Besides, after years in Hanoi, I’m a little doubtful that freeper namecalling has a big, positive influence on the man.

Not even JD himself is going to fall for the usual 'Palin is the enemy' crap. Even HE gets it.
BLITZER: You know that Sarah Palin who was his running mate says she's going to support John McCain and try to get him that nomination instead of you. How do you feel about that?

HAYWORTH: Well, I think we all understand the impulse of gratitude in politics and obviously Senator McCain, one of the decisions I applaud him for was putting Sarah Palin on the ticket. I think it gave great excitement to the Republican base and I can understand why she's coming here. But what's interesting, Wolf, in the social media, as I understand it, there's a new page on Facebook, Sarah Palin fans for JD but in the final analysis, it's not Sarah Palin from Alaska, It's Sarah Boyd in Scottsdale and others like her. Arizonans will decide who will be the next senator from this great state.

And there's this gem from JD:

VIDEO:"I look forward to having Mrs. Palin's support following the primary on August 24th."

“Unless you are in Arizona, then what you think (or I think) about McCain doesn’t matter. In the end, the good people of Arizona will decide between JD and McCain.”

BS. John McCain has pushed through legislative nonsense that has affected us all. He has insulted EVERY conservative. He is a UNITED STATES senator, making policy for all of us.

Don’t tell me who I can and cannot criticize that directly affects me and my children’s lives and this nation. Is that you Obama????
