The Beck Factor at Fox: Staffers say comments taint their work
Washington Post ^ | 15 Mar 2010 | Howard Kurtz

Posted on 03/29/2010 11:06:42 AM PDT by for-q-clinton

A handful of advertisers, such as Apple, have abandoned Fox altogether. Network executives say they believe they could charge higher rates if the host were more widely acceptable to advertisers.

I was watching Glenn Beck today. It was great he called the Che lovers and commies and New York Times for what they were.

And it was packed with commercials.

Beck is the opposite of Rush: after I heard his radio show, I could not take him seriously when he was on TV.

It’s a lose-lose situation for Fox, in my opinion, even though Beck isn’t half as divisive as, the very nasty, Keith Olbermann.

Given a choice, IMHO Apple would side with Olbermann over anyone on Fox as they are definitively liberal. They no longer disclose political contributions, but here's an idea of their orientation: Apple political contributions (not current)

Other than Apple, who is boycotting Fox over Beck. There should be a blacklist and boycott of them.

I’ve always felt there was a friction between Hannity and Beck. Beck is on his network, yet you never hear Hannity mention Beck ever.

If not for Beck's lousy time slot, he would be kicking Hannity's butt in the ratings and soon Hannity will lose his status as the second most listened to radio talk show host.

And (Rush) moved to libworld south in Palm Beach! LOL!

A huge factor was that Florida has no income tax, and he was paying plenty in NY state and city taxes.

Apple is not an American company. They are a multinational based in Cupertino.

"Beck is not beating Hannity daily in the ratings.. "

I think you might have wanted to post this to someone else. I never commented about that. I was speculating that I think Hannity and Beck do not like each other.

"I was watching Glenn Beck today. It was great"

Very good show. Was that a repeat? It seems I've seen parts of that before. Love the t-shirts at the end. Wear a Che t-shirt and on the back have it say how many people he's responsible for killing. Good stuff....

It must drive Apple nuts to know that Rush Limbaugh is a long time Apple FanBoy.

Karl Rove is a big Apple Fan Boy too.

Was that a repeat?

I don't know. I usually don't watch it, but yesterday's show was some of the best TV I've seen in a long time.

The translation reads as follows:

“Since the Obama administration’s attempt to slander Fox news has failed, they are now turning towards pressuring advertizers to leave Fox despite that network having the largest audience of all news channels.”

“My perspective is Rush is the perfect Apple consumer. They have made the computer experience pretty simple and solid, but there are limits when you choose to go with Apple.”

Nonsense. Macs are the most flexible computers, period. They’ll run Mac, Windows and POSIX software seamlessly, and with the Windows instance(s) sandboxed from the rest of the system so malware is contained.

If for some reason you need “native Windows”, Bootcamp allows that also.

Macs are also a good (to great) value depending on how much you value your time and the excellent bundled applications including backup.

For software developers, they’re an even better deal, since all of the development tools are freely available. For Windows, the comparable package costs hundreds of dollars.

“Windows Mobile 7 is supposed to be a game changer. Microsoft is scrapping its current thinking of appealing to business and going after the consumer.”

Once again MS follows Apple’s lead (Apple is pretty much MS’s real R&D department heh). I hope all of you touting the MS latest and greatest are happy supporting the company that put the MS into MSnbc.

Pick the technology you like and use it. None of the computer technology companies are going to pass a conservative litmus test. (Hmmm, wonder if there’s a business plan there.. ;)

I’ve never bought an Apple product and probably never will. I do wish, though, that AT&T would get a smart phone capable of competing with the iPhone.

There is. The Nexus One.

But it isn't sold by AT&T. You buy the AT&T compatible model direct from Google, and put your AT&T sim card in it:

Once again MS follows Apple’s lead (Apple is pretty much MS’s real R&D department heh).

Once again, Apple neither invented the MP3 player, or touch screen smart phones,, or the GUI or anything else. All those technologies were invented by other people and other companies long before Apple got into the cat.
Show my anything Apple has ever come up with, which is innovative as Microsoft's Surface Computer of Microsoft's Natal.
