In Defense of Sarah Palin She understands that the U.S. has been a force for good in the worldwhich is more than can be said of our president.
NORMAN PODHORETZ
Nothing annoys certain of my fellow conservative intellectuals more than when I remind them, as on occasion I mischievously do, that the derogatory things they say about Sarah Palin are uncannily similar to what many of their forebears once said about Ronald Reagan.
It's hard to imagine now, but 31 years ago, when I first announced that I was supporting Reagan in his bid for the 1980 Republican presidential nomination, I was routinely asked by friends on the right how I could possibly associate myself with this "airhead," this B movie star, who was not only stupid but incompetent. They readily acknowledged that his political views were on the whole close to ours, but the embarrassing primitivism with which he expressed them only served, they said, to undermine their credibility. In any case, his base was so narrow that he had no chance of rescuing us from the disastrous administration of Jimmy Carter.
Now I knew Ronald Reagan, and Sarah Palin is no Ronald Reagan. Then again, the first time I met Reagan all he talked about was the money he had saved the taxpayers as governor of California by changing the size of the folders used for storing the state's files. So nonplussed was I by the delight he showed at this great achievement that I came close to thinking that my friends were right and that I had made a mistake in supporting him. Ultimately, of course, we all wound up regarding him as a great man, but in 1979 none of us would have dreamed that this would be how we would feel only a few years

You obviously failed to notice, in the past 10 years, things have changed radically and violently regarding our bleeding, chaotic lawless borders.
You think Reagan would support pro-amnesty candidates right now, in today's America? Lets see if you can answer this honestly.
In fact its so bad, ya got Texans impersonating illegal aliens to avoid criminal charges.
It's so bad today, it was discovered that Bush's Homeland Security chief had people wandering around the inside of his private residence that were in the country illegally. This during war time!
The landscape is littered with tens of thousands of American victims of robbery, burglary, murder, rape, identity theft, drunk driving, not to mention costing the American people hundreds of billions supporting millions of these illegal aliens.
Drunken illegal aliens even slaughtered the writer and director of the "A Christmas story" and his young son recently.
You think tens of thousands of American victim of this violent epic invasion are going to support someone that aids and abets open borders, pro-amnesty politicians?
Ya think these victims somehow missed the GOP supporting pro-illegal alien politicians?
And you call tens of thousands of these victims 1%s, and irrelevant?
I've had a belly full of your types and your better of two evil, corrupt, fraudulent candidates.
Your stinking compromise over principle, profits regardless of consequences and party over patriotism has all but left America dead on the floor!

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ You need to go back on the meds before you blow up a building. Youre a fringer
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Blow up a building? Fringer?
Your hysterical response was not only typically arrogant, but quite predictable.
In addition, you failed to answer the simple question...Which was also very predictable.
#61 was a response to you.
Go back and read your response fringer...keep those 1%rs coming lol
I’m surprised that someone as stupid as Sarah Palin could graduate college, work in journalism, have 4 children, own and run a fishing business, get elected mayor, earn appointment to a powerful state commission, win the governorship, maintain a 70%+ approval rating, then be selected as VP running mate, and all then the time be so abysmally stupid.
(sarcasm off)
So lets cut the crap on all this Reagan comparisons. Yes he was great, but he was not perfect. When Sarah is done her 2 terms, then we can compare.
“Let me guess youre a RonPaul kook that supported Medina.”
Wrong.
Now let me guess about you...
Very good comments—Reagan was great, but he was no Palin.
It’s not a “CV” we need. It’s God, common sense and fire in the belly. Palin has all these.
You’re obligating yourself to provide a list of all the other conservatives you are withdrawing support for because they supported a rino.
Oh—you mean Palin is the only one you stopped supporting?
None of you people are being consistent, so none of you are likely to be sincere.
N-pod gets Sarah. What next, will Krusty Krauthammer give her a little grudging respect?
And speaking of Sarah, the lady drew 40k+ to the desert yesterday for the Conservative Woodstock. Didnt hear anything about Mittens or T-Paws speeches at said event. They were there, right?
This is actually somewhat significant. To have Podhoretz go to bat for you in a big way like this puts the rest of the intellectual community on notice that shes got a heavyweight in her corner.
Not a bad week for Governor Palin at all. Especially after the guff she took from the Burn Down the Town Right over the McCain Endorsement (see “Loyalty” in the dictionary).
If that was not enough I tuned in to Morning Joe this morning, where the hatred and crap continued. How these people call themselves journalists, is beyond me.
I had to turn away for the sake of my health. These Republican sarah Bashers here and elsewhere are in line with these people, I hope they realize.
“...when they claim that 0bama undoubtedly has a higher IQ, Im done reading.”
I expect that Sarah can spell “Syracuse”, which Hussein can’t, and I expect that she knows there are 50 states, which Hussein doesn’t.
I’ve been pro-Sarah since before McCain brought her in as VP candidate. Still, unless/until she stops stumping for McCain, and apologizes for supporting him against Hayworth, I’m off her bandwagon. Now, I feel she has serious discernment issues. I get it — she’s doing the “payback” thing to him, but principles should trump everything, expecially when the future of America is at stake.
You go ahead and support all the RINOS, libs, illegal amnesty, global warming (cap and trade), McCain Feingold, corrupt special interest, George Soros funding, and what ever else you feel like you OWE support to. Speak out of both sides of your mouth if you like and support those who do. It’s your right, and it makes for great politics.
As I said, I like Sarah, but I do not like the FACT that she feels like she is obligated to support McCain! I don’t know if I feel comfortable with that at all! She might feel like she OWEs McCain a cabinet position if she were President. What’s the use to be conservative, or tout conservative principles if you are just going to over look the trash. It’s still trash, even if you feel obligated to support it. Don’t get pious and tell me who I am, and what I think, thank you! I am NOT you people! Go somewhere else and peddle that.

You have a point, particularly if he loses in AZ.
We don't know any of those. We do know that she is ambitious.
Whatever...to each his own! I am just tired of people telling me what I think, how I am, who I should be. The “you people” comment makes me sick!
I like Sarah a lot, but I am not, nor have I ever been, a fan of McCain’s. My husband and I were discussing this issue the other night and it is his opinion that Sarah’s support for McCain this far away from the 2012 election won’t hurt her. He may be right, I don’t know.
First understand this—Sarah Palin is the antithesis of a RINO.
Again, Sarah Palin is the antithesis of a RINO (turn up your brain a little on this).
The point is that criticism against Palin, for returning a favor for McCain, is not sincere.
If it were sincere, other conservatives who have done the same thing would receive the same criticism.
They dont. So its not sincere.
It seems you have no real answer to my comments.
BTTT!
