According to two knowledgeable sources, Republican National Committee chairman Michael Steele once raised the possibility of using party money to buy a private jet for his travel.
---snip---
While Steele has not purchased a plane, he continues to charter them. According to federal disclosure records, the RNC spent $17,514 on private aircraft in the month of February alone (as well as $12,691 on limousines during the same period). There are no readily identifiable private plane expenses for Democratic National Committee chairman Tim Kaine in the DNCs last three months of filings.

Once on the ground, FEC filings suggest, Steele travels in style. A February RNC trip to California, for example, included a $9,099 stop at the Beverly Hills Hotel, $6,596 dropped at the nearby Four Seasons, and $1,620.71 spent [update: the amount is actually $1,946.25] at Voyeur West Hollywood, a bondage-themed nightclub featuring topless women dancers imitating lesbian sex.

I send them back to them, with little notes tucked inside.
Not money.
I give my money directly to candidates across the country. I live in Massachusetts, and the RNC has completely and totally ignored us up here. Not that I can completely blame them, but when they throw their support behind crappy candidates and leave real conservatives twisting in the wind, I am not going to give them a red cent.
I knew Steele was all hat and no cattle when he made his comments about the Second Amendment, showing he was completely clueless.
I don’t know what the big deal is about. Hell, it’s not like he was actually buying hookers with our money, just viewing a lousy lesbian floor show...

Ah, you're correct... here's a response from Freedom Alliance:

Freedom Alliance Responds to Complaints By Freedom Alliance
Monday, 29 March 2010
Today, Freedom Alliance was attacked with baseless complaints. There is absolutely no merit to the scurrilous charges launched against Freedom Alliance from two of the most left-wing organizations in the country.
The smear-mongers who have launched this politically motivated witch hunt against Freedom Alliance will be proven wrong as we aggressively defend ourselves in the days and weeks ahead.
-Freedom Alliance President Tom Kilgannon
Between the attack on Freedom Alliance, the Tea Parties, Sarah Palin (as usual), and attacks on the RNC... something is starting to smell to me. I think this is some kind of coordinated attack from "the Left". I wonder who's giving the orders at the top of the chain...

Excellent observation. What is really sad is how uncritically many conservatives are willing to believe the accusations and do the Democrats dirty work for them by creating chaos and turning against Republicans. The Dems even admitted the “divide and conquer” strategy a while back.
It was a staffer who spent the money at the club, not Steele.
Do you spend this much time and effort on the DNC spending? Might be nice to attack them for a change instead of the GOP which is the one group with a chance of stopping this slide into communism.
I don’t really care if he did anything about it. He’s unfit to lead the RNC for many reasons much bigger than the expenditure of these funds.
And while you all are attacking the GOP the Dems are sitting back and laughing. They are throwing away our country and you expect me to care about $2k some staffer spent at a strip joint?
Thats the ticket, don’t work to improve the system just check out and let the enemy have their way. bravo bravo
“I am not attacking the GOP I am criticizing the RNC and Steele”
Oh well then thats fine cause they are a completely different group of people. pffft make sure you check the temperature on the ovens before the dems throw us in. I’d like them nice and hot so its quick.
The dems throw a little red meat into the ring and conservatives kill each other to get it. How about attacking the friggen enemy?
For that much money, it better be a great floor show with lesbians and ducks!!
And another RNC shill chimes in. As I said earlier, I would hope the DNC wastes money even more effectively than the RNC has, that would mean less money for their candidates. Which is why I am applying scrutiny to the RNC here - they need to get more money to candidates and less money into their own ego gratification.
Y'all really need to get over yourselves, just blindly attacking legitimate criticism of Steele's management style here. You just come across as toadies. And BTW, the Tea Party folks, without access to these kind of funds, have been far more effective at countering the Dems. That's what happens when you are busy at political opposition instead of hanging at football games or at perv clubs.
yep don’t face up that you are playing right into the Dems hands, just throw some insults and deflect.
You come across as someone who’s helping the communists. So your blather and insults are meaningless.
I asked the mods to remove my last two comments, not because you didn't deserve them, but because I can express my viewpoint here better.
Back in 2006, posters like you ripped into anyone who criticized GOP transgressions in petty corruption and spending - transgressions that would eventually cost the GOP control in November 2006). Your types used the same line of attack back then as you are using now - critics were playing into the hands of the Dems. It turns out the critics were dead-on, but you shills didn't learn from the past - unfortunately, most shills don't.
And now you have the gall to accuse me as someone who is helping the communists. I spent over twenty hours last week doing volunteer work for a GOP campaign -, in addition to my day job - and plan to keep up that level of effort, and take most of my vacation days, helping that campaign until November. I do other activities to help conservatism as well. Yet some no-nothing shill like yourself comes into this thread with the same blind and counterproductive talking points as were used in 2006, against someone actually working on the ground (like many, many other freepers and Tea Party activists) to both contain the Dems and toss them out in November. So save your posts for someone who cares, bub - I've seen your type come and go, and you're worthless.
He’s got to go.
And another pointless point. Anyone who follows my posts here knows I attack the Dems every chance I get. And not just here, I get on MSM boards and rip into them there, outside of FR, so that independent readers can see opinions counter to the MSM spin. Yet you have the gall yet again to act like I'm just out to rip into the GOP - you are attacking me without knowing anything about my long history here. Which is a sure sign of someone trying to shovel manure.
