According to two knowledgeable sources, Republican National Committee chairman Michael Steele once raised the possibility of using party money to buy a private jet for his travel.
---snip---
While Steele has not purchased a plane, he continues to charter them. According to federal disclosure records, the RNC spent $17,514 on private aircraft in the month of February alone (as well as $12,691 on limousines during the same period). There are no readily identifiable private plane expenses for Democratic National Committee chairman Tim Kaine in the DNCs last three months of filings.
--snip---
Once on the ground, FEC filings suggest, Steele travels in style. A February RNC trip to California, for example, included a $9,099 stop at the Beverly Hills Hotel, $6,596 dropped at the nearby Four Seasons, and $1,620.71 spent [update: the amount is actually $1,946.25] at Voyeur West Hollywood, a bondage-themed nightclub featuring topless women dancers imitating lesbian sex.

Thank you.
What this says is that Steele is not running a tight ship, which isn’t much better. I would like to know what staffer can bill $2000 worth of expenses and who approved it.
Ford IS NOT THE POINT ...
Anytime people canvasing for the RNC call here, I tell them to not take this personally, but please tell Michael Steele he can KMA, and I’m not sending the RNC any money until he is gone.
Aside from this particular report, there has been discontent with Steele for almost a year now.
The procedure for removing a National Chairman should be modified. The grass roots is not being represented and that hurts the conservative cause. It takes, I believe, 2/3rds of RNC members to remove Steele. As each state has 3 members, states with few Republicans in them, states which are known for havens for liberal Republicans have too much influence.
I believe the problem was flying those jets to Washington to beg for money from the taxpayers. "Private jet" doesn't say "we're broke" very well.
Otherwise, the CEO of a successful company that's making mad returns for the shareholders and paying its employees well can be flying around in a gold-plated 767 for all I care.
Whoa... read icwhatudo’s excerpts from The Daily Caller at the top of this thread. Pretty damning stuff...
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! Let’s see Steele explain this!
Is a circular firing squad forming up?
No Cheetos and Craigslist W4W for you?
;^)
Uh, 2 knowledgable sources? This could be Rahm Emmanuel and James Carville for all we know. This is bunko reporting at best.
He won an election. Thats how he got the job.
If Steele was a ‘D’ he’d get a 100% pass on any of this stuff. But put the R there and the libs will take him down and try to bring the whole R down too.
Is a circular firing squad forming up?
I should have said "this is damning stuff... IF true."
My point exactly. They dont even cite a source. For all we know this is coming from the DNC smear machine, but yet tons of Freepers take it at face value.
Pretty damning stuff... *IF* these allegations about Steele are true.
according to 200 million knowledgeable sources, Rangle,is a tax cheat who still wallows in Pelosi's swamp
I’m highly suspicious. This is akin to Scheussel’s “take down” of Hannity and his “Wounded Warrior” charities.
I checked into this expenditure, and it isn't what this article reports it to be. I hate Steele... but the reporting on this expenditure is bias.
Just called Senator Session’s office and spoke with a nice lady who said she would check it out and bump it up the line. I’ll try calling Shelby and Bachus later tomorrow, but they are usually pretty useless about taking action. I would call Shelby and Bachus today, but I’m about to leave to help my wife and daughter take my new granddaughter home from the hospital. :^)
Smacks of the Hannity-charity attacks by Scheussel. I smell someone on the inside trying to get Steele.
