KABUL, March 28 (Reuters) - U.S. President Barack Obama arrived in Kabul on Sunday for an unannounced visit to Afghanistan, his first trip to the country since becoming president and commander-in-chief of the U.S.-led war effort.
Obama's brief trip was expected to include a one-on-one meeting with Afghan President Hamid Karzai, an expanded meeting with Karzai's cabinet and U.S. officials, and a speech to American military personnel.
A White House official, speaking before the trip, said Obama wanted to get an "on the ground update" about the war from General Stanley McChrystal, the U.S. and NATO commander, as well as Karl Eikenberry, the U.S. ambassador.

Press Secretary Gibbs would not confirm or deny that Obama will have meeting with Osama bin Laden.
You mean he’s not in Church celebrating Palm Sunday?
FoxNews just announced it as well.
I wonder why he is there?
Did they catch Osama bin Laden and maybe he wants to make sure he gets Mirandized and nobody harms a hair on his darling terrorist head?
Trying to sell them on the health crimes bill.
I pray that this was a one-way trip. I don’t want him back here, they can keep him.
The President just landed in Afghanistan to see out troops and meet with President Karzai and his Cabinet

Bush always got good press for these. Of course, he pressed the flesh with the troops. Obama will, naturally, make a speech to them and get out.
OBL would be allowed to dine in the WH with the First Family—unlike Bibi and the Dali Lama.
Can the US ARMY properly protect him overthere?
No but he did stop in France to pick up a white flag on his way over there.
He might be afraid of the US military
PR gimmick. His poll numbers are so low, his advisors have to be planning anything for him that looks remotely patriotic to get the numbers up.
He pretty much demonstrated his lack of executive knowledge and skills with the health care fiasco. Look for staged events. In other words, style over substance over and over and over again.
