We wrote here about the consequences of Obamacare that are beginning to be felt, even before its provisions are implemented: Caterpillar said Obamacare will cost it an additional $100 million in the first year; Medtronic warned that the new tax on its products "could force it to lay off a thousand workers;" Verizon told its employees that it "will likely have to cut healthcare benefits to offset the new costs;" and AT&T announced that it will record a $1 billion non-cash expense in the first quarter and "will be evaluating prospective changes to the active and retiree health care benefits offered by the company."
These announcements are the tip of the iceberg; hundreds like them will follow as Obamacare becomes a reality. Congressional Democrats, evidently stung by the bad publicity, are trying to strike back. A reader writes:

As publicly traded corporations they are obliged to file accounting charges whenever something happens that effects their revenues now and in the future.

Or as the Queen Bee said, "you have to pass it before reading it."
She said we had to pass it so we could know what was in it.

What these companies should do is print out the breakdown the new costs of the Orwellian Obamacare right in the paycheck deductions area. It would go like this
PreTax deductions
Health plan 200.00
(+80.00 for Obamacare over 2010)
That way people would see every month what the leftists have done to them every 2 weeks!

I think 3M posted their losses yesterday too. Wonder how they dodged the request to appear letter? Maybe they havent and we just dont know about it yet. What are the dems going to do? Jail and fine everybody? If people and corporations comply, it gives the government teeth. If everyone refuses to co-operate, what are they going to do? They can't jail everyone and if push really comes to shove, they're going to find out there's more of us than there are of them.
I'd love it if 3M just told Big Brother to stuff it.

I was appalled and extraordinarily offended when I read the Waxman demand, especially without giving the Republicans any advance notice of it. This is government tyranny.
One of the things that has been remarkable about the Obamacare debacle is how uniformly rude and ill-informed and inarticulate the entire Democratic party is...from Biden to Waxman to Reid to Pelosi to Obama. They say off-topic remarks at serious times. They have no real grasp of conceptual thinking. They do not have any real understanding of the details of the plan, including numbers. They lie. I think one of the reasons that women are so upset is the audacity of the lies.
I am by no means a great intellect, but I would expect that the people who have been elected to Congress to be of equal or superior intellect to myself. However, the Democrats seem to have come from the below average scale of American intelligence....each and every one of them.

Does anyone know what is up with that ugly nose of his? To much coke or a birth defect? Either way he can kiss my a@@. Well maybe not. He is probably not sanitary enough to do so.
Every time I see Waxman I am reminded that politics is the ugly man's Hollywood! LOL
I tell ya, this fella has got to be a political cartoonists dream! Then again, I don't see how you can exaggerate those features anymore.

True, but a distinction without a difference, no?

This is just plain scary. And sadly most people won’t know this ‘cause the state “press” won’t report it. I can’t stomach to watch cnn, etc to see. And then there are those who believe socialism is wonderful. It’s going to be Christmas every day! Sharpton was right. They knew what they were voting for.

Did you say inarticulate? Not Obama. Just ask Biden. And he’s clean, too!

“about destroying America”
Once the companies with high paying jobs go under, just think: Economic justice will be achieved. Americans won’t be rich anyone.
We will be more like most humans on the planet — dirt poor. Facing starvation and violence as a constant reality, most people will be dulled into accepting government authorities or a charismatic dictator who might mitigate the suffering.

Massive power that Obamacare gives these bureaucrats is scary. The have their hand in everything now -- even private industry is getting pushed around like freshman congressman. We America wake up?

“Obama is living in a failed Presidency,”
But, he just achieve the dream of every communist and socialist for the last seventy years: government take over of health care.
He didn’t fail on this one. We did.
