DENVER (AP) -- A proposal to ban abortion in Colorado will be on state ballots this fall.

The Secretary of State's Office said Friday that Colorado-based Personhood USA submitted enough valid signatures to put an abortion-ending proposal to a statewide vote this fall. The proposal would give unborn fetuses human rights in the state constitution, setting up a likely conflict with the U.S. Constitution over a woman's right to abortions.

The group is pushing similar measures in 40 states this year.

Because this website is quoting AP and New York Times, it is excerpted.

However, this group is supporting the ballot initiative.

FoxNews and Drudge are also touting this development...

Not sure this is a good idea... I think it’s better to call it an “already, but not yet” a person...

Link to New York Times article:

NY Times:Abortion Ban Proposal to Be on Colo. Ballot

FoxNews article:

Abortion Ban Proposal to Appear on Colorado Ballots

The point is FoxNews is highlighting this article on its FrontPage as one that is in BOLD.

At conception, you have a father and mother.

You have your complete "genetic" set that you will have throughout life.

At about 8 to 10 weeks you have heart and brain function.

After a baby is born (9 months after conception), the baby will die unless the baby is cared for.

So up until the "baby" can survive on its own (age 2), then you would destroy the baby???

No. A child is a child after conception. Personhood is personhood NO MATTER THE AGE OR DEVELOPMENT OF THE HUMAN BEING. PERIOD.

Prayers going up to Father God to end the holocaust of the unborn in my time. Please let this be the first successful legal step, and let it travel all the way to SCOTUS and lead to the repeal of the evilness that is Roe v. Wade!! Amen. And amen.

This is great. Challenge the law that allows the killing of babies at its heart.

This thing has been defeated once here in Colorado nearly 3-to-1 only two years ago. It’s a complete nightmare in terms of its overall legal implications, and Coloradans are smart enough to know that. The same thing will happen this time. This particular effort is completely pointless and a total waste of energy of the people involved. I would imagine the pro-choice folks are delighted with this sort of windmill tilting effort.

Teaparty, frustration, and Obama might make the difference this time.

There is a big difference in the mentality of the country this time.

The baby is alive and a person at the moment of conception.

I know, it's not our fault some people are scientifically ignorant.

This issue is about basic scientific literacy, morality, & civil rights.

AGREED! Some are just mimickers of what they hear and never investigate for themselves. Ignorant indeed. Just like the ZERO voters.

This Coloradan isn't. Would you mind explaining that?

Stanley Ann Dunham could have had an abortion in 1961, but she didn`t.

Don't ya just hate it when people try and legalize real people? How pointless. Now move along. A good website for you to visit would be daily kos. Have fun.

This Coloradan isn't.

And this Coloradan also! I am not aware of any nightmarish legal consequences. I for one will never stop fighting against the legal, but profoundly immoral killing of the unborn. The consequences of passing the person-hood amendment include protecting and preserving the life of children, the providential blessings of God and the pissing off of child killing liberals. What's the down side?

"So up until the "baby" can survive on its own (age 2)"

I know kids are being pushed to grow up too fast these days, but even so, I'm not aware of too many two year olds that can survive on their own ;-)

Well put! ;-)

If the argument is "we would have to fight evil to protect the innocent" I say "Bring it!"
