Why I Wrote The 'Stupak Amendment' And Voted For Health-Care Reform

By Bart Stupak March 27, 2010

When I saw that Kathleen Parker's March 24 op-ed, "Stupak's original sin," defined me as a "backstabber," it reminded me of a Bible verse. Matthew 7:3 asks, "Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye?"

The true motives of many blogs and organizations claiming to be pro-life have become clear in recent days: to politicize life issues as a means to defeat health care reform. One group even sent an e-mail to supporters saying they are "working feverishly to stop this legislation from going forward."

The pro-life groups rallied behind me -- many without my knowledge or consent -- not necessarily because they shared my goals of ensuring protections for life and passing health-care reform but because they viewed me as their best chance to kill health-care legislation.

Last November, an amendment I introduced succeeded in making sure the House health-care-reform bill contained the current law prohibiting public funding for abortions. I was disappointed that the Senate could not pass my language and only mustered 45 pro-life votes, far short of the 60 votes needed to keep the amendment intact.

Dr. Benishek looks like a real contender.

President George W. Bush signed Executive Order 13435, restricting embryonic stem-cell research.

I believe that was reversed by the chief PH in the WH now was it not?

Why “Stupak” will become, like “Kleenex” or “Xerox”, the new popular word for “traitor”.

He'll be equated with Benedict Arnold and Judas Iscariot for all time.

Oh, shut up, Bart. And where do you explain the $4.8 BILLION in earmarks later asked for by the #Stupak 11? Hmm.

Stupak:

An Executive Order is only as trustworthy as the president who signs it. ‘Nuff said, sucker.

"He whines because he knows he did wrong, if he truly believed in himself he would not go on an explanation tour."

How do I explain this. He only bactracks bucause he wants to save his rotten ass in his current postion. People like that that have no concept of right or wrong. Whores in the worst part of town have higher standards.

Here's another guy running against Benedict Bart:
Tom Stillings For Congress In this video he gives his resume, his beliefs about business, small government and abortion. Not a polished politician by any means, which is a GOOD thing. Originally found him on Facebook, search for Tom Stillings for Congress. Seems to be getting a lot of endorsements from conservative groups there in Michigan.

And I must have missed the part where he ‘plained why Planned Parenthood is so happy with Obamacare, especially all those new school-based clinics — you know, like the one out in Seattle that just arranged a teen’s abortion without her parents’ knowledge?

How effective was PRes. Bush’s 2007 Executive Order in preventing stem cell proliferation?

....”Stupak finally decided to DO EVIL. There’s no justification, or whining, that can change that”.....

Yep...exactly. You know I was told when your doing the right thing expect the pressure...and the more pressure there is will be in direct purportion to what you stand to gain by resisting or loose by yielding.

Stupak squawked about the pressure he was under...Quote,”It’s a living hell”...but he completely yielded to the enemy of mens souls ....who will continue to cover our nation with the blood of babies. No backpeddling possible now for Stupak....no excuses...nothing can be said thhat will account for his decision.

Benedict Bart commented somewhere else, don’t have a ref. right now, sorry, that Planned Parenthood doesn’t do abortions in his district but gives really good health care to women, and that’s why he’s glad to support their organization!!!

Can anyone be THAT stupid?? It’s incredible, it really is. < shakes head in bafflement >

I would much rather have a two bit whore over for dinner than Stupak. We have called all these sleazebags whores but really, whores are far more noble than these hypocrites and vipers.

Why is a $15 million taxpaid Mackinac Bridge my responsibility living in Virginia?

For the same reason that a $300,000 million “bridge to nowhere” in Alaska was ours. Which is why governor Palin distributed our money to Alaskans after it was decided not to build the bridge.

I hope the voters in his state return him to private life, so that he won't be afraid of those nasty Republican who have threatened him..

The only threat I give to the Democrats is...
don't let the door hit you in the a$$, when we send you back to private life.

Spend a few bucks supporting Stupak’s opponent, you know, just because you can (and because he IS a good pro-life conservative):
