I'm thinking that if this country paid less attention to "making soldiers feel a little better about where they are," then this "war" wouldn't have lasted more than twice as long as World War II.
Nothing against the soldiers, mind you. I just get the same feeling here that I get from my hockey teammates when they complain about how hard I push them on the bench and in the locker room.

well,..when you rotate soldiers and marines into a multiple deployment cycle,..spinning the wheels off the war machine,...you damn well better be thinking about morale,..even if it comes in a little cardboard box.

Comforting our soldiers has nothing to do with the length of this war. The stupid rules of engagement and fighting the war in the media is the reason for that. Hockey is nothing like war. I have no respect for anyone that wants to deny any comfort to our troops.

The Pentagon makes the Rules-of-Engagement, not the average soldier. What we are talking about here are a few very minor creature comforts for the troops. May not sound like much sitting behind these keyboards, but to the troops it makes a huge difference in their attitudes. Keep in mind that a majority of these troops are on their 2nd or 3rd overseas deployment.
