Palestinian Media Watch reports that in its official statement in honor of International Women's Day, the Fatah movement listed a group of "Palestinian" women of whom it is proud: Martyrs, fighters, prisoners and the Virgin Mary.

This is a tough claim to make since we have HER GENEOLOGY in one of the GOSPELS, and she traces her ancestry back to DAVID.
I believe that is correct.
Status as Jew does, indeed, come from the mother (or conversion).
Tribe (e.g., “Levi”), however, comes from the father (included an adopted child).
Joseph was of the line of David.
Mary, with her cousin serving in the Temple, would have probably have been of the Tribe of Levi.
