War of words between Okla. gubernatorial candidates heats up in wake of ObamaCare vote

OKLAHOMA CITY — Things are getting pretty hot and heavy out there in the wake of this week’s ObamaCare vote and Oklahoma’s gubernatorial race has been pulled into the fray.

Since the House voted for ObamaCare earlier this week, followed by the president signing it into law, the reaction from ObamaCare supporters, Tea Party activists and everyone in between has been growing. Between shots allegedly fired at Republican Rep. Eric Cantor’s Virginia office to a coffin allegedly placed in front of Democrat Rep. Russ Carnahan’s Missouri home, things appear increasingly on edge.

Here in Oklahoma there is a particularly interesting situation developing. The two leading gubernatorial candidates: US Rep. Mary Fallin, a Republican, also voted “no” against ObamaCare. Oklahoma’s attorney general, Drew Edmondson, the leading Democrat, has not yet made a firm decision about whether or not he will join a bipartisan effort by 14 attorneys general around the nation who are challenging the constitutionality of ObamaCare.

Edmondson’s problem is he was on a conference call earlier saying he supporting the lawsuits but after he was faced with actually doing something, he is chicken. In case everyone doesn't remember, Edmondson took the Bush state of Oklahoma in on the side of Gore in 2000 and sided with CT against the Boy Scouts.

Now ask me why he is still AG and I will tell you that I don't have a clue because I thought sure he would be defeated the next election. But then two Republicans got in a snit at each other in the primary and the supporters of the other refused to support the eventual winner of the primary which was stupid. These petty quarrels in OK eventually have given the Dems all the statewide seats except for the Corporation Commission and gave us 8 years of the trial attorney Brad Henry as Govenor. Did I mention he is a huge Obama supporter in a sea of red Oklahoma?

Cannot wait until November 2, 2010, and enjoy the watch party to see Mary win the election and become our Governor-Elect. There is no one in Oklahoma with more experience to become Governor than Mary — she was a State Legislator for four years, then became the first Republican Governor Lt Governor 12 years and then in 2006 won her seat in Congress. She promotes Oklahoma everywhere she goes. As Governor, our State will be back on track. Todd Lamb as her Lt Governor will make a formidable team and one Oklahomans can be proud. After eight years of doofus and four years of Jerri who?, I cannot wait.

At least we won't have Edmondson as AG after this year which is reason to celebrate!

Couldn’t happen to a ‘nicer’ guy either! This is poetic justice for his taking OK in with Gore instead of Bush in 2000! Could say this is bad karma coming home to roost!

“Later, a “Republican House member” asked Fallin and two other congress members if they were inciting a riot by reacting favorably towards the protesters”

Wonder what cheesy RINO weasel was responsible for this? If it were the Senate, I'd suspect McCain or Gormley.

While I don't support violence or ethnic slurs either, people are angry - VERY angry. And its perfectly appropriate to demonstrate this anger in whatever non-violent, non-destructive means necessary to convey to the arrogant bastards in Congress the depth of their feelings on this subject and LET THEM KNOW THEY WILL PAY IN NOVEMBER.

Unless we do this, they will be more likely to support that bastard Impostor in the White House and the kinds of radical legislation sure to follow this “victory”.

They won this battle but the war isn't over. And the victory is and will be a costly one for them. Unless we make sure THEY know how DETERMINED WE ARE, they might be more willing to chance this again with another socialist bill from that bastard Obama. We have to let them know WE are not as exhausted from this last battle as THEY are.

We have to remember - MILLIONS of brave Americans fought long and hard wars, facing prison, death and wounds to keep America a free nation and our traditions and constitutional rights intact and sacred.

We must be prepared to make sure that an arrogant. elitist bastard who very well may not even be an American citizen, does NOT steal those rights from us and from our children's children, and convert this country into a Marxist Islamic State.

I sent a note to Drew Edmonson through his Campaign HQ and I actually got a prompt reply. His email address as Attorney General is hidden. It was not a particularly nice email, because of his recalcitrance to file a suit. This was his reply.

We have yet to determine if Oklahoma will file a lawsuit over the federal health care legislation. I simply believe a thoughtful and thorough legal analysis of the constitutional issues is preferable to a rush to the courthouse. We’re essentially aiming at a moving target because the Senate must still consider the House reconciliation bill, so we don’t yet know what the final law will look like.

More than two months ago I told Congress that I have serious concerns with certain language which, on its face, appears constitutionally infirm. Since January, we have talked repeatedly with colleagues in other states, some of whom have filed suit and some who have not, about these important issues. We will continue to research the constitutional issues and case law. Facts and the law, not politics and fear, will drive our decision.

- Attorney General Drew Edmondson
