Borking, Its Not Just For Judges Anymore
03/25/10 | Reaganesque

Remember when the Left proudly create their weapon of personal and political destruction: "Borking?" They successfully opposed the nomination of Judge Robert Bork by throwing out every wild and unfounded allegation they could at Judge Bork in hopes that some of them would stick. They gave no consideration to the truth of the charges, the charge was simply made to create a perception of Mr. Bork that would damage his chances of being elevated to the Supreme Court. When President Reagan withdrew the nomination, the Left strode to the microphones to proudly proclaim that they had created a new form of political activism: Borking.

A few years later, they applied the same underhanded and utterly dishonest practice against now Justice Clarence Thomas. Again, they threw out any story that the could come up with, regardless of any evidence or credibility of the charge in hopes of destroying yet another Conservative judge. This time, thankfully, it failed. It failed mainly because Justice Thomas successfully and accurately identified the charges and those who were making them as a "high-tech lynching of an uppity black man."

Now, in the wake of President Obama's arrogant denial of the will of the overwhelming majority of the voters with the passage of his HealthCare package, through blatantly nefarious, devious and unconstitutional means, Democrats, the President and their loyal drones in the media, fearing an unprecedented backlash in the upcoming elections, have pulled out their favorite means of political terrorism: Borking. What's new this time is that their target is not a single political appointee. No, this time they are going after EVERYONE who disagrees with them. Borking has become a weapon of mass political and personal destruction.

In the last few days, Democrats have been throwing out unsubstantiated and unprovable charges of racist, homophobic and outright violent behavior on the part of Tea-Partiers and anyone else who they have seen fit to target. They do this in the hope that they can create the impression that those who oppose Liberalism/Socialism are bomb throwing maniacs who would kill you if given the chance. If successful, they can rally their own base and peel away any independents who aren't really paying attention such trivialities as evidence. It is dishonest. It is irresponsible. And it is highly dangerous to the underpinnings of our Republic. But, they don't care.

Alas, this would not be the first time that Socialists have ever resorted to this behavior. A quick check of history shows that Socialists and all their political cousins like Communists and Fascists, routinely covered their own nefarious intent by accusing their opponents of the very behavior that they themselves were committing. From Hitle to Stalin to Mao and so on, collectivists and statists have routinely made up stories about their political opponents to cover their own immoral and frequently illegal behavior. So, sadly, the United States has now joined the historical, world family of countries that have suffered through such treachery.

One big difference, though, is our own political history. The United States of America does not have the history of monarchy and strong man dictatorships that have plagued Europe, South America and the rest of the world. We have a tradition of freedom and Republicanism (meaning we are a Republic). While others in other countries were willing to acceed to Socialist and/or Communist rule because of their past acceptance of a single, all powerful ruler, we have no such history of groveling obedience to such a leader. We believe that our government is of the people, by the people and for the people.

If Mr. Obama and the Dems believe that they can change that past and precendence, they are sadly mistaken. America will not accept an arrogant, elitist and all-powerful leader. America will not, in the end, allow for corrupt, thieving single party rule on a national level. And no matter how much the Libs/Dems throw out their baseless accusations against the very people they alledge to champion, the American people will only see it as proof that Libs/Dems truly think that they are inherently better than everyone else and they and they alone have the right to express their opinion and only they are capable and deserving to be our leaders.

We Americans will put up with alot of garbage from our politicians. We have proven this throughout our history. However, as history also proves, Americans will not tolerate a leader who believes that he or she is somehow inherently better than the rest of us by birth and is thus entitled to lead by either divine or secular providence. We rejected the notion of the divine right of the king/queen in 1776 and we have consistently held that belief since.

So, now that the Dems have decided that Borking isn't just for judges anymore, the Dems are demonstrating clearly for all to see that the will of the people is irrelevant to them; that they believe that they are inherently better than the rest of us in every conceivable way and thus are entitled to be our masters. We, the people of the United States of America, reject such foolishness and will stand up and denounce these false allegations of violence and identify them as what they truly are; a high-tech lynching of an uppity electorate. Dems/Libs/Socialists, see you in November.

I believe this is one of Alinsky’s rules.

Well, except for the fact that Reagan never withdrew the nomination. He got a floor vote and Bork was rejected.

“...their favorite means of political terrorism: Borking. What’s new this time is that their target is not a single political appointee. No, this time they are going after EVERYONE who disagrees with them. Borking has become a weapon of mass political and personal destruction.”

That’s perceptive.

I’m going to try and use that thought.

I agree with your two cents, Reaganesque. I’ll add that what they are up to is trying to change the national dialogue and change it fast. But, they stepped all over themselves injecting civil rights into this because we are acutely aware that our civil rights are being violated - seniors are but one example, as they face discrimation in this unconstitutional bill just because of thier age. In thier haste to cover these dastardly deeds they shot themselves in the foot. Not to mention that the race card expired last year. You don’t get to play the same hand twice.

yep...it is coming right out of the Alinsky playbook.

Problem for Barry is it’s been on the library shelves for three decades and we’ve all read it.

Memo to Libs...probably not the best tactical decision to turn all of your super-secret battle plans into a best seller.

It is very plain with the way they are trying to smear the Tea Parties. And it doesn’t help that the media is their willing accomplice.

I hear ya! But the media is only hastening it’s own decline. Most don’t pay attention to them anymore. All the hype from the media about violence right now has not changed the conversation by average America. We are still talking about the failed stimulus, an idiot in chief who bows to foriegn dignitaries, and the stripping of our liberties with this travesty of a death care bill. There isn’t any propoganda the media can (and does) distribute that is going to change our conversation. In other words, the “grapevine” is, and always has been, the most powerful form of communication:) They can’t control us.
