GOP challenges send health bill back to House
Washington Post ^ | Thursday, March 25, 2010; 6:04 AM | Lori Montgomery and Shailagh Murray

Senate Republicans have successfully identified two minor violations of reconciliation rules in the final piece of the health package, according to aides from both parties.

The violations will force the Senate to change the bill and ship it back to the House for final passage. But Democratic leaders said the provisions that will be struck from the part of the bill dealing with Pell Grants for college students do not significantly affect the student loan program or the health care bill overall.

Under another proposal, offered by Sen. Charles E. Grassley (R-Iowa), Obama and members of Congress would have been required to buy insurance through state-run exchanges that were created by the legislation and that will start in 2014. The amendment failed, but the White House announced that Obama would use the exchanges anyway, apparently assuming he will win reelection in 2012. That prompted Grassley to quip: "This is a little presumptuous."
Americans need to de-elect this brazen pond scum.

Members of congress are exempt from the health care bill(no surprise). We need an amendment proposed to EVERY bill that’s up in congress to take away this exemption. Of course, this amendment will be shot down every time, but it’ll sure make some congressmen squirm explaining to the voters why they’re exempt from this wondrous health care.

So in other words, the GOP was unable to do anything significant to the un-Constitutional law, in regards to actual “healthcare” issues???

Way to go!!!

So there is still a provision for our tax dollars to go to the state purchasing and distributing erectile dysfunction medications to registered sex offenders...

I would like to pose the question...

Who’s pathetic, and absolute soul-less waste of a life, thought to put something like this in the bill to begin with???

I would really like to meet that person...Show them my appreciation.../sarc

So the GOP was able to take something that didn’t mean a damn thing out of this law...

I will give them this...At least it’ll go back to the House for another HISTORIC vote...

Let the media gush-fest begin yet again...

Think I’ll hold out for a total repeal of this law as soon as Obama is out of office...

That’s really the only way this is going away...

In the meantime all of the tax dollars (that are being collected right now) “revenue” to pay for this un-Constitutional law should be campaigned on to be given back to us as tax-breaks for about a bazzilion years...

Want to see the economy do a 180??? hehehe

It’s really going to be interesting to see how many stupid idiots in this country start to whine and cry about losing their “government run” healthcare that Obama worked so hard on to get for them (not us), when any medical benefits in procedures and medications have not really kicked in, if they ever do...

I will be surprised if we can ever get rid of an entitlement like this...

How about using it to send all the illegal aliens back home on a way ticket on Greyhound?

Here is something that is NOT presumptuous and when the challenges to this Communistic monstrosity reach the SCOTUS, it will not stand (w/thanks to FReeper P-Marlowe):

Not only is Congress exempt, the bill exempted certain people in the administration who had a hand in crafting it.

There should be no exemptions for anyone under this bill except for illegals who should be barred from receiving anything but basic emergency health care, stabilized and sent back to their country of origin.

Is that ALL the Repubs could muster? And now they are giving up too. Pathetic!

If they give up, then they are out TOO, in my book! I am thinking I will NOT vote for ANY incumbant. How can a newbie be any worse?

This is where the idiots who are making threats to the Dem Congressmen are going to blow it for all of us. Those idiotic death threats will reinforce the resolve of the Dems and a few of the NO’s will become YAY’s.

I may have been asleep at the wheel but where is the entitlement in HCR? The bill requires we buy insurance, it does not entitle insurance to us....yet.
