Chief of the U.S. Military: Shut down Guantanamo Bay
Published on 25 May 2009 by admin in General News, In The Media
Admiral Mike Mullen stated it simply, Id like to see it shut down. Mullen believes Guantanamo has significantly damaged the reputation of the United States, even going so far as to say (in other articles) that it has been a powerful recruiting tool for Islamic terrorists. Rand couldnt agree more. Rand believes America can fight terrorism and maintain its moral integrity without resorting to offshore prison camps, prolonged detention, and other, highly questionable legal measures. For Rand, national security and the rule of law go hand in hand. More and more high-ranking military officials are confirming his position.
I think Kentucky needs a warrior against enemies domestic for once. I know that Rand Paul will be that warrior.
If 180 days of isolation and waterboarding didn't yield any useful information, hang 'em. Rinse and repeat.
There is no realistic plan for the disposal of the prisoners at Gitmo, and there never has been. THAT'S the problem.
What I thought Gitmo was closed? Wasn’t that one of President Obama’s campaign promises? He’s been in office for well over a year and I’m pretty sure he closed right after his inauguration like he promised he would.
Considering how many people here started disliking Bush and calling him a squishy RINO, thanks, you are helping with the case against Rand.
Well, just speaking for myself, my biggest disappointment with the entirety of the Bush presidency can be summed up in one word: Spending.
Domestic Spending was grossly unrestrained. And even if one argues that Military Spending has to go up in time of war (or major "use of force" actions), there's expenditures that could be cut to offset some of that (I tend to think that perhaps we've provided Europe with too large a "defense subsidy" for too long, but that's just one idea).
Since Spending Bills necessarily come to the President's desk from the Congress, my biggest hope for Rand Paul is simply that he'll be one of the Senate's strongest voices for reduced Spending.
Heck, I'm a huge Tom Coburn fan, for exactly the same reason; and I don't agree with him on everything, either.
I posted this to you, "I dont trust Gays in the military Cheney, nor the Romney crowd. I do trust Palin. Grayson and his support seem weak to me, as far as McCain, that is a unique situation for Palin and like Jim Robinson and Rush Limbaugh I accept it." and you twisted it into Rush and Jim being for Rand Paul in the Kentucky Senate race, that is just lame.
You also think that Governor Palin cannot and will not support any 'mainstream' Republican as they have not in any way supported her, except for McCain, that is very goofy (and insulting to Palin) too, that is the cloudy thinking that you used to bring to the Romney threads as you defended him with such fever.
You don't remember the dark days when Palin alone was fighting for conservatives like back in December of 2008, Senator Chambliss does, "Newly reelected Sen. Saxby Chambliss (R-Ga.) credited Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin with firing up his base and allowing him to cruise to a victory over Democrat Jim Martin.
Currently Governor Palin and her political PAC has supported this partial list of candidates.
Jim DeMint, John Kasich, Tom Coburn, Jean Schmidt, Michelle Bachmann, John Thune, Rob Portman, Marsha Blackburn, Bob McDonnell, Orrin Hatch.
Governor Palin is currently on a campaign to sweep out and replace 30 Democrat Congressman with Republicans.
It seems that like most romneybots, you haven't travelled as far from him as you thought, judging by your attacks on Governor Palin.
Yeah.
I’m not sure they deserve the courtesy though. Cancer sticks aren’t as cheap as they used to be. ;D
The only thing I was twisting was your logic just as you continue to reframe everything I say through your somewhat narrow prism. If you go back and read what I said; you will see that while I took nothing for granted re Jim Robinson - as I don't know whom he might support here and mention him; only because you brought him into your story - I was quite sure that Rush would not be supporting Paul!
Yes, that is a partial list of Candidates; her Pac has given money to Rand Paul; and beyond that; have tried and fairly so; to give 'rationale' to her doing so. It is NOT; as you offered, IMHO and again. . .because she thinks he might be a good Senator for Kentucky!
One more; please tell me what mainstream Repubs, have openly supported and endorsed Sarah? Could be I missed some of these folks.
(Oh yes, Mitt; sounding a more than a bit politically gratuitous; gave her praise last week; offering that she was Presidential material.)
Sarah herself, while a committed Republican has left the door open as to just how she might run in 2012; should she choose to run - if no door opens within Repub Party; which knows might happen as Glenn pressed the question as well. She made her points during Glenn Beck's one-on-one, much heralded interview, just after her joining Fox News. Perhaps you missed it.
You asked me about McCain and I told you exactly this "as far as McCain, that is a unique situation for Palin and like Jim Robinson and Rush Limbaugh I accept it."and you twisted it into me saying that Rush and Jim are for Rand Paul in the Kentucky Senate race, to quote you "Sooooo; is Rush FOR Paul - and Jim as well? Don't know about Jim Robinson; but am certain that Rush is NOT for Paul!
As far as people endorsing Governor Palin, for what?
It is interesting to see how the pro Romney crowd is jumping into this Kentucky race and how the anti-Palin animosity leaks out, you aren't the only romneybot jumping on this bandwagon.
I see he has the same foreign policy sense as his daddy.
Thank you for the ping!!
We're not even sure he lives in the state. C'mon, Kentuckians, get your brains on.
The “thought process” of some voters makes me shudder.
I just want to clarify something: are you HOPING that Sarah Palin will run 3rd party...???
I say we simply adopt a “take NO prisoners” policy. Those we can’t interrogate with success on the front where they get captured just get put down.
NO WAY! That would be the absolute end of 'hope'. Of course, think the Left would love to encourage such. And as much as I appreciate Glenn Beck; think he tends to nudge way too much for 'third Party' options. . .and so he nudged Sarah; who at first rejected; offering that she believes in Repub Party. . .and with a few more nudges; she said she would wait and see what Country was ready for - and as well, what Repub Party is ready for and of course; what 'she' is ready for.
The KISS MO works. . .we have basically; a two Party system; and I want to keep it that way. TWO choices. . .Vote or not; two Parties; like it or not.
Somebody has their panties in a wad about Grayson trailing by double-digits...
"So what if Rand Paul lies? He's ahead in the polls - that matters more. Nannie Nannie Poo Poo!"
That’s not really the issue here - if Rand Paul wants to take that position more power to him - let him make his case and let us hear him out. The issue is that he has flip flopped on this and has denied this was his position. It’s about being less than honest and then attacking his opponent as dishonest for pointing this out.
