Former state Sen. Dino Rossi (R) stopped by the National Republican Senatorial Committee Wednesday to meet with Chairman John Cornyn (Texas) about a bid against Sen. Patty Murray (R-Wash.).
NRSC spokesman Brian Walsh confirmed Rossi's meeting, but it's not a big surprise given that he met Tuesday with Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele.
"Senator Cornyn continues to meet with a number of potential candidates in Washington," Walsh said. "We believe and her poll numbers confirm that Sen. Murray is vulnerable, and we intend this to be a very competitive race in November."
The NRSC believes Rossi could wage a competitive campaign against Murray, but since the filing deadline isn't until June, he has said in interviews that he will take his time deciding.
Earlier is better for Senate Republicans, who are otherwise faced with a crowded primary of little-known GOP candidates. If Rossi doesn't run, former local newscaster Susan Hutchison is waiting in the wings.

I hope he runs.
***Former state Sen. Dino Rossi (R) stopped by the National Republican Senatorial Committee Wednesday to meet with Chairman John Cornyn (Texas) about a bid against Sen. Patty Murray (R-Wash.). ****
No, no, no, no, no...Patty Murray, the stupidest senator ever, is a DEMOCRAT!!!!!!!!!!! There is no (R) after her name.
Obviously a typo.
We need Rossi, Thompson, and Pataki to jump into these Senate races.
If all 3 get in that would markedly increase the odds of a GOP majority.
Most of us on the East side would prefer someone with the eggs to stand up and tell it like it should be. Clint Didier, a former football superbowl ring holder comes to mind.
Susan Hutchinson wants to run for the Senate. Just Great, here we have a news reader wanting to run against a tough old Broad. Just what we need, a no body, without any experience, wants to run for one of the highest offices in the Country.Get Real.
Rossi needs to decide now. He needs money and resources. Murray also needs to to be worn down.
I hope Dino Rossi runs, too. If the GOP can continue to expand the playing field, winning a majority isn’t out of the question. I hope Tommy Thompson and George Pataki both jump into their respective races in Wisconsin and New York.
She can sit next to Al Franken.
and a cancellation of death care after 2012
If we get all three to run I honestly think that we’ll win 52 seats, with California being a possible 53rd.
I understand your concerns but I guarantee you that Rossi has a better chance to beat Murray than anyone currently running.
I think a poll a while back showed him leading her.
Once again, he ran a woosy campaign the last time. So, what kind of campaign will he run this time.
Ya think? :>)
Well all the public polling and 99 out of a hundred professional and amateur (like moi) political analysts will tell you the former Governor-elect has a decidedly better shot than the ex-football player.
Rossi’s up 3. Clint is down 19. Former State Sen. Don Benton down 11.

Parmy, I feel your pain. The problem is, eastern candidates consistently lose statewide because they can’t pull enough votes from the mush around Seattle. And that’s why you’ll see a lot of mushy campaigning, because they’re trying to win enough votes from mush to put ‘em over the top.
Well, your candidates from the West side of the Cascades haven’t done so well, either. And the reason is that they are mushy. They don’t stand for anything. They are just democrat-lite.
Heh, they're not 'mine'. But Rob McKenna has won back-to-back, and Dino Rossi won the governorship ... briefly.
Rossi, no. We need to look at all of the candidates. To go against the rats, we have to have someone who will stand up nose to nose an hold his/her ground. We can't be willing to compromise our stand or values. That is what has gotten us in the minority positions across the country, everywhere. That has gotten us nothing but grief and the Obamacare. That has gotten us a lousy economy and this 'Great Recession'.
