Ehrlich in for a rematch
Politico ^ | 3/24/10 | ALEX ISENSTADT

Former Maryland Gov. Bob Ehrlich plans to mount a comeback bid against Democratic Gov. Martin O'Malley this year, WJLA-TV reported Wednesday.

Ehrlich will announce his run on April 7 in Rockville, according to the station. The former governor will also make a campaign stop at his childhood home in Arbutus that evening.

Ehrlich was elected governor of his state in 2002, becoming the first Republican to hold that office since Spiro Agnew. O'Malley ousted him in the 2006 elections by a six-point margin.

He seemed pretty good while he was in office; not perfect, but probably the best we can get in Maryland and miles better than O'Malley.

He’s a pro choice RINO, but as long as he stays in Maryland he is about the only game in town that could beat Marty O’Malley (did you know he had a band?). When Bobby left office he had fixed Spenddenings fiscal disaster and left the state with a surplus. Marty fixed that. Fiscal disaster part deux.

Marylanders are dumbasses though. They’ll probably re-elect O’Malley.

As someone who was born and raised in the People’s Republic of Maryland and now transplanted in Missouri, I think this would be a relief.

Ehrlich wasn’t the best governor, but he is waaaaaaaaaaay better than the virtual socialist O’Malley, who, as Mayor, nearly ran the city of Baltimore into the ground.

People in MD only voted for Spiro Agnew when Agnew was the liberal candidate!

We need to get him in to redraw the district lines after the census. He gets my vote and money, etc. He was my congressman.

He would have been better as Governor if he had a state legislature to work with...

If Bob had been more vocal about the illegal immigrant problems in Md. and offer some kind of resolution to the legislature such as worker visas program etc. instead of letting them quietly get starter documents in the Md. MVA for 4 years . Now they're all perminent residents and registered DemocRATs ,,,, thanks Bob .

Ehrlich was the best governor this state could have had, although he was handicapped by a legislature owned by the demonrat party that sold their souls to a marxist god. The citizens were asleep for many years, but no more. I, for one will support him.

Ehrlich was a major disappointment. I’ll sit this one out.

Don’t “sit this one out”. That’s the defeatist/loser attitude that got us all nobama. If that is any gauge, that’s not an effective strategy.

Ehrlich is running for Governor again.

Maryland seriously needs him to win. O’Malley is one of the worst Governors around.

The story about Governor Bob challenging Babs was reported, then quickly batted down that very same day.

I think it was just a rumor.

This story, about another run at governor, has been confirmed.

If it was a rumor ,, Bob E. started it on the Tom Marr WCBM 680AM radio show because I heard him myself ,, as I am a regular listener of Tom Marr’s .

He considered running for senate, but Mikulski is much too popular to beat. He ran some polls and found that it would be easier to run for Governor and win.

He might actually run for Senate, but only if Mikulski were to retire from office.

“When Bobby left office he had fixed Spenddenings fiscal disaster and left the state with a surplus.”

Yup.
Our property taxes tripled and we paid scads of new “fees”.
[”fees”, mind you, not “taxes”]

He got lots of money from us to pay off the state’s debts, and augmented that by selling a huge tract of the Green Ridge State Forest to real estate developers.

[3500 McMansion lots in the wild paradise of W.MD. We were all really happy about *that*]

Same crap, different letter.

Is he *really* the “best” MD can ever hope for?

He better not count on W.MD’s prior winning support.

There’s no Kennedy for us to vote -against-, this time around.

We’ll remain in Dem chains unless he suddenly turns up far-right of Reagan.
