94 percent?

That's what the story says, mlizzy, but this margin of support from self-identified Catholics also can be compared with those of other denominations.

Why is it that only Catholics are held corporately responsible for whatever goes on in government????

Catholics comprise almost exactly 30% the U.S. Congress (House + Senate= 536 total).

That's a bit less than the sum of Baptist + Episcopalian + Lutheran + Methodist.

African Methodist Episcopal 4
Anglican 1
Assembly of God 1
Baptist 59
Buddhist 2
Catholic 161
Christian 27
Christian Reformed 2
Christian Science 3
Church of Christ 3
Church of the Nazarene 1
Community of Christ 1
Congregationalist 4
Disciples of Christ 2
Episcopal 38
Evangelical 1
Greek Orthodox 6
Jewish 43
Lutheran 24
Methodist 53
Moravian 1
Mormon 14
Muslim 2
Not Affiliated 1
Not Stated 7
Presbyterian 43
Protestant 20
Quaker 1
Reformed Church of America 1
Serbian Orthodox 1
Seventh-day Adventist 2
Southern Baptist 3
Unitarian 3
United Church of Christ 1

Sadly, and of course without any sense of satisfaction, I must say there's plenty of responsibility to go around.

You need to identify who among those various denominations voted for and agsinst 0bamacare. The simple fact is that no true Christian can support murder of the unborn.

The article was written by a Catholic for Catholics in a Catholic publication. His point is not that there is blame to go around. His point is that Catholics should lead. I’m not a Catholic. I think those other guys should lead.

Catholics can be held responsible because unlike every single Protestant denomination, Catholics have doctrine they are bound, under pain of mortal sin, to believe. By definition the other denominations cannot tell their members that abortion is always "intrinsically evil" for only Catholics believe Christ anointed Peter (and subsequent popes) to be infallible on such matters of faith and doctrine (Matt 16:17-20).

"Protestant 20"

Didn't know Protestant was a religion.
How to say this and be nice?
I thought a protestant was some of those religions that broke from the Catholic Church. That's what Sister Erminalda taught us.

No, your post underscores the point,

Catholic = Episcopalian

If you don’t expel every offending member of Congress, you’ve made the transformation complete....

You poor, sick bastards!

That's another easy one...

We Protestants know that just because someone attends church or calls him/herself a Protestant doesn't necessarily mean every one is actually a Christian...

Your religion on the other hand, claims that ALL who are baptized into your religion are Christians and are the real Christians...No ifs, ands or buts...

The case has been made numerous times by you guys that the position of your religion is 100% anti-abortion...That it teaches and preaches the higher moral road...

But then, it is the spirit filled, baptized into your church, social justice Catholic Christians that gave us Obama, and now gave us a baby murdering health bill...

The country would be better of if most of you Catholics became atheists...Maybe the morality standard would raise a bit...
