A new Siena poll (810 RVs, 3/15-18, MoE +/- 3.4%) is the first in New York to test the potential Republican primary for governor between former Rep. Rick Lazio (R) and Steve Levy, the Suffolk County Executive and soon-to-be-former Democrat. Lazio leads Levy 45-16 in an initial test, with 40 percent undecided. When Republican voters are informed of Levy's political affiliation, Lazio's lead expands to 60-19, with 22 percent undecided.

Democratic Attorney General Andrew Cuomo, meanwhile, continues to be the early heavy favorite to ultimately win the seat in November.

Didn't the early returns say the same thing about Martha Coakley?

I hope somebody has a juicy, Spitzer-like scandal hidden away for Cuomo for release around October or so.

Steve Levy is a big lib who doesn’t have the guts to go up against the Cuomos in his own party. Rick Lazio is just a retread. New York is a lost cause.
Like I always do I’ll vote straight Conservative Party line.

The Conservative in this race is Carl Paladino, Erie County NY business man and developer who has done more for Buffalo than the last 2 mayors together.
Listen to Him speak for 2 minutes. Not reform Albany, but wreck it and rebuild. He tears the hide off the punk union goon for schools regularly on radio. Liberals run from the guy. He commands great local respect.

Lazio does not and cannot achieve that. No track record, Since loosing to H Clinton, haven't even heard of him until this new attempt

I really couldn’t care less who the Gov of NY is, because just like California, it’s a lost cause. But, I am curious who is going to be the republican challenger to both Gillibrand and Schumer. Are they even going to have contested elections?

Lazio needs to take some kickboxing lessons or something, the guy is a wet blanket all too often in his TV/Radio appearances.
He’s a decent man, good politician, but he’s got to step up his game when it comes to the combative arts of campaigning and politicking at the retail level.

I’ll come out and say it, I want Cuomo to win.

Of the 3 candidates right now, Cuomo, Lazio, Levy...; Cuomo is the only one with the experience needed to salvage a rear guard retreat action to at least minimize the financial and societal breakdown that is coming to New York State.

Also, Conservative Party is going to endorse Lazio... as per Mike Long

So what’s up with Levy? I’ve heard he may be out of the race.
