McCain: Don't expect GOP cooperation the rest of this year ("They have poisoned the well")
The Hill, Washington, DC ^ | 2010-03-22 | Michael O'Brien

Democrats shouldn't expect much cooperation from Republicans the rest of this year, Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) warned Monday.

McCain and another Republican senator decried the effect health reform legislation has had on the Senate, a day after the House passed the upper chamber's bill.

GOP senators emerged Monday to warn that the health debate had taken a toll on the institution, and warning of little work between parties the rest of this year.

"There will be no cooperation for the rest of the year," McCain said during an interview Monday on an Arizona radio affiliate. "They have poisoned the well in what they've done and how they've done it."

“Cooperation between parties usually isn’t paramount in election years like 2010, with senators jockeying for campaign positioning. But some GOP members said the character of the Senate had changed by virtue of the process used on the health bill. “

So did Senator ‘Reach across the aisle’ finally figure out that a President Obama IS a scary thing and the Democrats are basturds when they aren’t whining about how it’s just not FAIR to bully the House and Senate when Republicans have a majority?

Dear John:

Seeing you invited them to the freaking well, and gave them a bucket to put the poison in, it’s hard to believe you’re really surprised. But, since the NEXT big deal Obama and his Dem’s will ram thru is Amnesty for Illegals, I’m sure you’ll find it in your BIG heart to “cross the aisle” just one more time, to demonstrate your Big-tent bipartisanship. After all, with J.D. Hayworth breathing down your neck out in AZ, you’ll need every new vote from the Illegals you can get across the border!

...seems like the rest of the quote should include the caveat that the Republicans should not expect too much from John McCain...this year or any other year for that matter!

I have said for years, that the Republicans have been hiding behind Court decisions, that gave them cover for their real agenda. This issue, will be proof positive of their real intentions for our Republic.

Congress has the Authority to pass laws, not subject to Judicial review, but the Republicans avoided that option like the plague. They can also limit the Jurisdiction of all inferior courts, but they avoided that also, and in my opinion they did so because the courts were doing their bidding, and providing cover for the Progressives.

How dangerous will Juan be if he (as I hope) loses to JD? Will he quit pretending to be a conservative and feel himself free to go back to his old self, becoming the 60th vote to break filibusters? If he does, the Dems could pass a lot of legislation this year, including cap'n trade, immigration (which Graham has co-sponsored), financial reform and so on.

Voting the bastards out may not be enough after this year is over.
