Members of the House of Representatives tonight approved President Obamas health care agenda, the biggest expansion of government power since the Great Society. The Obama health care legislation is universal in scope and will profoundly impact the personal lives of more than 300 million Americans.
It will restrict our personal freedom while undercutting the independence and authority of the several states.
This unprecedented congressional action will give Washington control over the content of health benefits packages; the kind of health insurance available to Americans and the organization and regulation of health insurance markets.
This has been accompanied by one of the most shocking Congressional exhibition of arrogance and special interest deal-making in memory.
In 1774, in response to the first Tea Party, the British Parliament issued a series of acts designed to control the colonists, stop their protests and restrict their liberty. The Americans called these The Intolerable Acts.
Obamacare is todays Intolerable Act. In poll after poll, in town hall meetings, in popular protests and in special elections, ordinary Americans have declared their firm opposition to this scheme, only to be derisively dismissed.
This imposition of legislation is intolerable for two reasons:
* Process: The outrageous way in which this massive restructuring of one six of the economy has been pushed through.
* Substance: Huge obligation shifted to future generations, a huge lurch toward European-style welfare states.
The Heritage Foundation will have a full answer to Congress action tomorrow and in the days and weeks and months to come.
We will do all within our power to recommend, and make the intellectual case for, the repeal of these acts.
We will help marshal the full resources of the conservative movement for this cause. You can join the fight to keep America the Land of the Free today
Fortunately, there are no permanent victories or defeats in Washington. For millions of Americans and for Heritage, Round One of this fight is over. Tomorrow morning, we are answering the bell.
Not for long when they realize they can drink, smoke, etc. as much as they want to because the gov’t will take care of them. For the already irresponsible, knowing you have health care will only make you that much more of a risk.
Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes... But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future se

I want to vomit :( Feeling like we should have a funeral or something.
REPEAL IT!
Unfortunately there are republicans willing to go along.
Don't hold your breath.
RATs is RATS, and working with the adage that there is no honor among thieves, don't confuse any internal bickering among the RATs as an indicator of any shred of decency nor common sense.
Common sense is for conservatives, RATs operate under the MO of "group think".
what provision does this?
The Intolorable Acts...the best analogy I’ve heard so far.
How does one go about doing this?
How does one go about doing this?
Exaggerate much?
Look, I am vehemently against this bill, but it isn’t necessary to exaggerate about it.

Excerpt:
Under the plan now headed to Obama, individuals are required to purchase health insurance coverage or face a fine of up to $750 or 2 percent of their income — whichever is greater. It includes a hardship exemption for poorer Americans.
The compromise package would drop the individual fine to $695 or 2.5 percent of income, whichever is greater. The fine on companies failing to provide coverage would jump to $2,000 per employee.
“what provision does this?”
Children are covered immediately. The students who are in college will be covered till age 26, under their parents insurance, are the ones I remember.
How does this appear overnight? There are bureaucracies to build!
I think that is true for individuals, but for companies the FEDERAL UNEMPLOYMENT TAX ACT has been around for a while.
Not true. I’m in the industry. You’re analysis of COBRA law isn’t accurate, first off: By law, a person leaving employment must be offered the identical plan his employer offered, only at that point his employer doesn’t kick in for any of the premium (i.e. the employee pays the full premium). You are correct though, in that insurance is expensive...
Secondly, health insurers know that this bill puts them in the crosshairs. Its DESIGNED to put all private insurance out of business. Take Rush’s advice on this.
The pre-existing condition clause is death blow to the idea of health “insurance.” In states like MN, there exists high risk pools (MCHA program) for people with cancer, etc.... This is a much better option, in my opinion, than having the feds decide how to run an insurance company. Can they run an auto company? Bank? Anything?
I’m praying for Mark Levin, and also for the guys at Heritage. Donating too. I’m also praying for the birthers, yes those much-maligned patriots (you know, the ones who care about article II, as well as the article I) who interestingly, might end up playing the most devestating trump card of all. (ok, call me crazy after that last part- i don’t care. The truth is the truth.)
Heritage has it exactly right: What passed last night is nothing less than a 21st century Intolerable Act. King Obama didn’t grow up in America, doesn’t know our values, and has no idea about the kind of steel hidden just beneath the surface of his “subjects.” He and Nancy are about to learn all about the motto of old Gadsden.
Don’t Tread on Me.
I’ve heard the HC ind is 6%, 12% and 17%. I have no idea how much he auto ind is abut Chrysler and GM sales suck so it isn’t much from that point of view. As for the banks, the feds do not control all the banks, not even close and as the funds borrowed are paid back the banks regain control.
The second Declaration of Independence needs to be delivered to the enemies of liberty and freedom in Washington.
“Oklahomas Democrat Attorney General who took Oklahoma on the side of Gore and against the Boy Scouts is part of the group of 38 attorney generals who are going to file suit.”
38 is enough states to call a constitutional convention and ursurp what Congress and Zer0 have done.
Wouldn’t that be an in-your-face move!
