I was a newspaperman for 25 years before getting forced into early retirement. Mainly I was a business editor, as that’s usually an acceptable place for management to stash the “token conservative” in the newsroom.
I still have a couple friends in the business. But overall, I would rather spend time with members of just about any other occupational group.
It’s not just that journalists are mostly liberals, it’s that they’re afflicted with this insatiable need to be the smartest person in the room.
Actually, my choice for worst offender in this department was a self-styled conservative, a truly rude person who may have been the only exception to my rule of “no enemies on the Right.”
As for myself, somewhere in my late 30s I realized that being the smartest person in the room doesn’t put any money in my pocket nor any peace in my soul. As a young man, I talked way too much. Now, I try to save my best words for my writing.
I should note that I am hoping for a professional comeback soon. But why would I want to return to the news business, knowing how insufferable the people are?
Mostly, it’s a matter of using the abilities that God gave me. I can write, I can edit, I can even occasionally take a publishable photo. When the Lord gives you a talent, you can’t just throw it back in His face.
On the other hand, various family members have consistently urged me to seek “a nice, safe governemnt job.” Well, only if I were starving ...
If your Cable company doesn’t carry Fox Business Channel then ask them to add it in a basic or basic plus package and get rid off one of the low rated CNN’s. The 2 CNN’s or 2 MSLSD’s don’t add up to half of FNC.
If not cancel in the next month.
I believe the time for talk, even shouting, is over. They have stolen our Republic, and the tree of liberty is parched.
I like it. Heckle the snot out of these sniveling Marxists.
For sure - Amen!!!
I’m thinking along those lines as well. The tree is very thirsty, unfortunately. Only a coward would accede to the statues of this abomination of a bill out of fear of consequences. A patriot ignores it and takes the consequence, which, whatever they are, cannot compare to liberty.
Yeah, I agree with this guy 100%.
Do NOT get into an argument with someone who has a microphone. Yes, the media is biased. We need to work around that by promoting alternatives like blogs and so forth. Just shouting at the media makes us look foolish.
Look, even before blogs and YouTube, we had Fox News, AM talk radio, the Wall Street Journal (now the most read newspaper in America), ect. Enough whining. And also, for the most part, the American people are on our side; Obamacare is NOT popular. The people didn’t fail us. Our government did.
“There has to be ways we can destroy these people”
Yeah, don’t watch or listen to their stations, don’t patronize their sponsors nor allow any monetary support of any kind to reach them. The “fruit” will wither on the vine.
Starve the beast..
From what people said (I cancelled Tv for this VERY reason) - Fox is about the same now. I listen to the car radio and they were cheerleading too.
My sister n law voted for him. I sent her an email tonight and told her I hoped she was happy, to rot in hell and never contact us again.
Rob them of their money/viewers, they will fade away like Air America.
“...ABC, NBC, CBS and CNN...”
Don’t watch already. Same for most conservatives. How could we possibly hurt them?
Yes, I think the plan does need a re-think.
How about this? Figure out how to USE the media to our advantage, whether they like it or not. That means being on call-in talk shows. Maybe going up to the TV station and getting to know the reporters personally and mining for ones who might listen to the actual people. Maybe writing letters to the editor, writing blogs and promoting good articles, figuring out where we can have a public voice speakly loudly and convincingly in opposition to what's going on.
Maybe it's even time to study up on this Alinsky I keep hearing about. Maybe it's time to do some "community organizing" of our own.
You need to do no such thing. They would love it. They would call themselves the new victims and put your angry faces on every broadcast. You would scare away the voters you need.
I worked a a network reporter for many years. There are much better ways.
It's very simple. Broadcasting is all about $, and nothing else. Broadcast station owners worship the Golden Calf.
Here is what to do. Somebody needs to watch Olbermann and make a list of his sponsors. Then a committee here will pick the weakest target.
The phone call to their management then begins, telling then that unless they stop that sponsorship, you will stage huge rallies outside their stores. Plenty of pickets with signs saying “XYZ Company Helped Obama Kill Babies In America.” “Please Don't Shop Here. This Store Helped Kill American Medicine.” Good ones like that.
The newspapers will love it, and give you great coverage.
Tell the store that as soon as they stop advertising on MSNBC, NBC or ABC, the picketing will stop.
In 3 to 6 weeks, they will agree.... then we move on. It will take 6 to 18 months, and the suits that run TV will be screaming for change.
It's already happening. Don't watch their shows. Don't buy their products. Support sponsors for shows that endorse your worldview.
And as you can see Keith, the right wing racist, homophobic bigots wanting to keep us in the Dark Age are angry and threatening violence. Perhaps we need new legal crackdowns?
-MSNBC’s fair report
Ok...so write and get your voice out there...how about the grass roots people..they might love your skill...or even your loval republican party.? Don’t let a good talent go to waste. Put it where it will leave a trail and have impact to change minds and hearts.
I ended up doing medical transcription 25 years ago. My kids never went to daycare, and I got to quasi-write and edit. However, thanks to ObamaCare and voice recognition software, my career field will be going poof in a few years and I'll be starting over too, hopefully as a writer/researcher for a conservative news source on the web.
Good luck to you.
If enough of us did so, it would serve two purposes: help to starve the beast and put us in position to bring it down from the inside, as the RATs have done.
