I posted the same earlier and people argued process. I'm saying that IF and that is IF the House lacks the votes for the Senate Bill then they pass the reconciliation and maybe not even vote on the Senate Bill.

The House and the Senate ain't exactly on the same page on this. The House does not trust the Senate to pass some version afterward that is to their liking.

Then it's up to the Senate to change some rules and Pelosi can claim she did her job.

It would seem that if the House votes to kill the original Senate bill then the whole issue is dead - how can you reconcile a non-existent bill - on the other hand, if the House does pass the Senate bill and expects the Senate to endorse a bunch of pro-life changes, they’re hopelessly delusional - I’d bet with a lot of others that the ‘rat leadership will doublecross the House and take the bill to Obama immediately for signing - he’s like a little child who just can’t wait to open his present - his place in history - on Christmas morning - in that case, I’d expect about a dozen ‘rats would finally wake up to the reality of the ‘rat corruption and come across the aisle to the Republican side......

Not really. The Senate bill has to pass and become law before there can be a reconciliation bill that avoids a Senate filibuster. A separate House bill would be subject to filibuster in the Senate.

MSNBC (So for what it's worth... also was reported on C-SPAN earlier too though and they were speculating that is part of the reason why deem-and-pass was dropped)...

http://firstread.msnbc.msn.com/archive/2010/03/20/2234573.aspx

Quote: "According to a Democratic member, the Senate Parliamentarian, alerted the Democratic Leadership this afternoon that they COULD in fact pass a fix it bill BEFORE the Senate bill. Prior to today the idea was that that would not be allowed. For this reason, the Leadership opted out of using 'deem and pass.'

"A Democratic aide tells us that the House tomorrow will vote first one the rule for debate, then on the fixes to the Senate bill and then on the Senate bill itself."

And to those confused on the procedure and trying to remember your civics... don't worry... you're not alone. I am a Congressional geek and former intern and know the rules better than most (I would actually enjoy being a parliamentarian). They aren't following any procedure that's ever been done before. Some of these tricks have been done in isolation -- but never all at one time and in such an important bill.

...And no, you cannot really use reconciliation to reconcile a budget to a law that doesn’t exist. But in the fantasy land that the Democrats are creating here with the aide of a Parliamentarian in the Senate who can be fired by Harry Reid at any time... strange things happen. We are in the Congressional Twighlight zone here. We all know this is wrong, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t going to do it.

Keep a close eye on Obama. A Reichstag Fire would be very convenient for him tonight...

the more we trust God that he has the power, the more He will do for us ...

(I heard a rumor that He is trying to stop the bill)

Any bill passed and sent to the POTUS for signature becomes law even if the POTUS does not act on it in 10 days.

If TRUE ... then the successful effort to scuttle ‘deem-and-pass’ will have made the WHOLE difference.

What I understand is about to happen goes like this:

The House is voting on the “Deem and Pass” or “Slaughter” rule, which deems the Senate bill as passed, along with the so-called “reconciliation” package of “fixes”.

What will probably happen once this package is passed, is Speaker Peloski will separate the two, certify and send the Senate bill to Premier Hussein for signature.

The package of “fixes”, or the so-called “reconciliation bill” would then be sent over to the Senate, where they will promptly wipe their arses with it, and that will be the end of health care for the rest of the year, or at least until after the elections. In any case, there isn’t a snowball’s chance in hell that Harry Reid and the boys are going to buy anything that the Peloski Politburo comes up with now, next week, or next year.

That is what worries the House Democrats, and why they have not had a vote on this yet. I still give it 50/50 odds that they delay the vote again tomorrow. They will not bring this to a vote unless they know they have the votes to pass it. If it is voted down, Obama is finished along with every single Dhimmie in the House.

“the House tomorrow will vote first one the rule for debate”

LOL, that was written by Luke Russert, Tim’s son, for MSNBC. Isn’t he, like, a stoner or something? Well, he certainly cannot write.

It would seem that there will be endless objections if that is the case.

... it starts in the house and they vote first.

Ahhh ... that's so cute! Got any other antiquated ideas you want to bring out for show and tell? If it really worked that way then how could the senate get their own pork?

I was listening to Rush’s weekly recap today and I think he was predicting something similar.

Without totally overturning the rules it can only go through now if the house passes the senate bill word for word. If it is returned unpassed to the senate and they change anything it is no longer filibuster proof. So the only next step is pass the senate bill in the house. If the votes aren’t there, no vote will be called. That is the best we can hope for. The senate bill is then dead until they get the votes in the house. I firmly believe that if no vote is called tomorrow it is dead. Time is our friend. Keep calling.. faxing .. our fate rests on tomorrows vote.
